Gary People Complain of
Sharks Wfco Infest the Union Station.
While Alderman Castleman has kept
true. In a way, his promises to keep "dips" from robbing the people who
attend the Gary bribery -t benefit carnival down In the "patch" he hasn't
been able to keep an eye on their e.
tions elsewhere.
The latest case of pickpocketing Is
reported from the Union depot where several similar cases have been report-
ed recently. Last night while about t'J
board a Lake Shore train for Elkhart, his home town. H. D. Albert, 1704 Ir-
ton avenue, was relieved of his .wallet
which contained $50. He describes
the thef as a map about 85 years old.
5 feet 7 inches, stout build, black stubby growth of beard and wearing
a blue uit.
Three weeks ago a Gary woman was
robbed at the Union depot and during
the first part of April pickpockets at tempted to get away Prof. Corson's
money from him. Prof. Corson had just arrived from Montreal and while
looking for the reception committee
from the Y. M. C. A. that was supposed to meet him he was met by the
"dips" instead.
Both of these, happenings occurred
after the uniformed policeman that Is
on duty had been replaced by the com
pany's "plain clothes" men. The worn
an, like the Elkhart man was robbed afte.r dark, and Frf- Corson was mo
lested early In the morning.

There ought to be a big time in the
New Assembly Hall at Eighth avenue
and Washington street in Gary to
night. Proprietors of a Greek candy
kitchen have become so Americanised that they are going to give a '"grand ball" for the patrons of their soda
fountain and fruit counters.
The affair is ordered at the behest of
Tom Magrammes, king of the Gary Greeks, whose title, however, is dis
puted by several Hellenic sons who have picked up a few "thousand dollars in wise Gary investments.

among the Greeks and it isn't so long ago that some of bis countrymen deposed Tom from the presidency of the
