A BLSISESS MEETING. There was a large attendance of members at the meeting of the De
borah Society of the First Christian church yesterday afternoon. The meeting was held In the parlors of tfca church In Calumet avenue. During the business meeting plans were made to hold an all day session next Wednesday, May 29th. The committee of which Mrs. Granger" is chairman will have charge of the meeting and serve a dinner to the public at noon. The meeting yesterday was the first to be held In ' several weeks on account of the convention and several matters of interest to the members were discussed.

Mrs. Charles Wilson and Mrs. Homer Postalwaite were hostesses at the meeting of the Ladies' Aid Society of the First Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon in the parlors of ths church in South Hohman street. Plans for serving the alumni banquet on the evening of June 7th were made and announcement was also made of the newspaper sale. A wagon will be sent around Saturday, May 25th to collect all old papers and magazines. The

Easter occurred at six o'clock last evening at the rectory of St. John's Episcopal church of Pierre, South Dakota. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Roberts. Miss Elizabeth
Allen attended the bride and Charles Cousins was best man, the only other
witnesses of the ceremony being Mr, and. Mrs. Porter, the Rev. and ' Mrs
Roberts and Miss Applegate, all ef Pierre, 8. D. Folowing the ceremony, a dinner and receptlnon was given at the residence of Mrs. Porter at which a
number of guests were entertained in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Easter. Later In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Easter left
for Mr. Easter's ranch near Van Meter,

Mrs. Easter is a graduate of the Hammond high school and was at one
time a teacher in the Lafayette school
Later she attended the University of Wisconsin where she received library training and was librarian of both the
Hammond and Crown Point libraries,
During the past two years while home
steading In South Dakota Mrs. Easter
has been engaged as a teacher In the
Capa schools. Mrs. Easter will arrive in Hammond the latter part of June for
an extended visit with her mother and

The program continued until ten-thirty o'clock when a "dutch lunch" was served. There were seventy guests at the party. Jt was announced that June 16th will be the annual "Opening Day" of the season. quiet wedding owing to th recent death of th groom's mother.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Dieboldt former
ly lived In Hammond and have many
friends here and throughout the county. They hare received many beauti
ful gifts. The announcement of ths
marriage of Miss Klaussen and Mr.
Dieboldt will bring them the best wishes and congratulations of many
friends.

"TEXAS TOMMY" HAD A NARROW ESCAPE Aurora, Elgin, one of the "Texas Tomnay" dancers with the Merry Manicure Girls at the Orpheum. starting this afternoon, had a narrow escape from death or serious injury while rehearsing on the stage-this morning. Miss Elgin is bounced about the stage by her partner with an abandon that is really thrilling. During the course of the dancQ Gordon, her partner, swings spinning for a distance of twenty fee-t. The young woman lost her balance and toppled over the footlights. The quick action of Barney Young, the orchestra leader, saved her from falling headlong into the orchestra pit. As a result of the accident the pair work further "up stage' "than formerly was their wont.

its feature scenes a miner's strike, which brings together miner's daugh ter and the son of the mine owner. Their romance brings about a termination of the strike, the girl acting as the spokesman for the miners. Some of Mrs. Wright's plays wiil be shown in Hammond after July 1st.
