INDIANA VETERANS OPEN ENCAMPMENT South Bend Garbed in Holiday Dress. South Bend, Ind.. May 21. The thirty-third annual encampment of the Indiana department G. A. R. and auxiliary bodies will be opened in South Bend today and will continue three days. Arrangements' have been made to care for 2.000 delegates and visitors. Notwithstanding predictions of showers for Tuesday, the city has. been given a holiday dress. The vanguard of veterans began arriving tods. The encampment this year will be- devoid of a contest for the 1913 meeting, the veterans having reached a decision that they want to meet In Indianapolis. Indications point to the election of Nelson J. Bozarth of, Valparaiso as commander in chief. A fight for office is being waged locally between Judge Timothy E. Howard and Wilbur Gorsuch, who are seeking the post of senior vice commander.

Death of Mrs. Mabbs.
The sad news of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Mabbs was received from
Allegan, Mich., this morning, where sh passed away at the family residence yesterday following an illness of about
three weeks. The particulars of the
case were not learned and the funeral
will be held some time tomorrow.
