Miss Agnes Meikle. whose marriage to Allan Twyman of East Chicago will be an event of Tuesday May 21st, will have many pretty parties given in her honor during the week. Mrs. Victor Dyerj will entertain a company of young people at her home in South Hohman stroet. At her Glendale home Mrs. A. Murray Turner will entertain Miss Meikle and a group of her friends at a bridge party Saturday evening. Next Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Harvey Gostlin will entertain at her home in Carroll street. A COSTDIE PARTY. The Misses Olga and Hilda Wandner entertained the girls of the Tht Alpha Gamma Club very delightfully at a Hard Time party last evening at'their home In Truman avenue. The girls wore costumes appropriate for the oc casion. Dancing and games were feat ures of the evening. In a "Kitchen Contest" the honors were won by Miss Caroline Hess. A two course luncheon was served at ten o'clock. The next party will be given in two weks and Miss Ruth Dufraln will entertain at her home in Michigan avenue. A delightful time was spent socially by the members of the Eyelet Embroidery Club who- met with Mts. Clyde Petrie at her home In 'East Sibley street yesterday afternoon. The hours until four-thirty o'clock were spent with needle work after which the guests were invited int'o the din ing room and served with a four course luncheon. The table was at tractively decorated to carry out a color scheme in lavendar and white. Streamers of crepe paper were brought from the chandeliers to the four corners of the table. Eight covern were laid. Mrs. Patterson who hns been a guest at several of the club parties, recently has Invited the mem bers to meet with he? at her home in West Sibley street Thursday after noon May 23rd. Mrs. Patterson will entertain at a thimble party. Mrs. O. C. Trout and Mrs. Patterson were guests at the meeting and the following members were present, Mrs. L. J. Clover entertained the members of the Acme Social Club at her home In East State street yesterday afternon. Pedro was played during the afternoon and the honor in the game were won by Mrs. J. T. Flavin. Prlxes were also won by Mrs. Barney Kenny and Mrs. C. N. Nau. Dainty refreshments were served after the games. In two weeks on Thurs day afternoon. May 23rd Mrs. C. N. Mrs. Oscar Plageman won the first honors and Mrs. Stuppy the second. The consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Peter Austgen. The hostess awarded one guest prise and it was won by Mrs. Frank Cope. A MISIXESS AND SOCIAL SESSION. The members of the Ep'worth League of the First M. E. church will meet this evening to elect officers and transact other important business. AX ALL IJAV SESSION. There were many members in attendance at this week's meeting of the Martha Society. The members met for an all day session yesterday In the parlors of the First Christian church in Calumet avenue. A dinner was serv ed the public at noon and a nice sum was cleared which will be used for the benefit of the church.

evening in the school hall at the corner of Sibley street and Oakley avenue. Many members gathered to enjoy a program of games and contests. ENTERTAINS CLIB FRIENDS. E Minneapolis, Minn., May 10. The Ma rie Churelwcontroversy, which has bee-n a source of much trouble to Chicago Methodists during the past three years, was transferred to the- seat of the gen eral conference today. Mr. Perley Lowe, leading Chicago Methodist layman, obtained the consent -of the conference o turn over all documents relating to the case- to the committee on judiciary. Ths conference wrestled today with the proglem of Episcopal supervision for negro Methodists. The report of the commission on that subject favored negro bishops, but could only recom-! mend a constitutional amendment so that negro bishops could be elected with jurisdiction confined to negro con ferences. The conference was urged to Indorse a series of resolutions presented by Dr. If. J. Coker of Kansas City on the white slave traffic' The Methodist colleges came in for a scoring by a resolution offered by Dr. ! W. V. Burns of Kansas City, calling on the conference to Investigate reports that dancing, theater-going, and the use of tobacco was practiced In the colleges, and to correct the evil. The conference refused to entertain the proposition. - dainty luncheon was served following the program. The parlors were decorated in red, black and orange, the club colors. The members planned to meet again next Thursday evening when arrangements will also be completed for & theater party to be given In the near future. MEET WITH MRS SCHROEDER. At her home, 398 Hickory street Mrs. Frank Schroeder pleasantly entertain ed the members of the B. O. N. Club last evening. A dainty luncheon was served after the guests had spent a few hours with their needle work. EAST CHICAGO COUPLE WED Miss Mary Black of Vernon avenue and Alec Gold of Calumet, employed by the Interstate, were married yesterday morning. Both parties are members of the Hungarian church In Calumet and on account ot this having been destroyed by fire, they went to Whiting for the ceremony, the priest of the Whiting Hungarian Catholic church, performing the marriage rites. The bride was attended by Miss Bessie Bolga and Miss Bessie Black and David Kovach served the bridegroom as best man.- . The young- people are going to Michigan to live on a farm. ,
