County has to deal with a democratic house and with two democratic senators and In view of this fact it is be lleved that Governor Marshall coull do more than any other lndlanlaa to

aid the projectl SEEK DEMOCRATIC AID. The opinion was voiced at the meet

ing In Hammond last night that the

matter of securing this appropriation is of vital interest to the entire state.

Millions of taxables will be added to

the state if the comprehensive system of waterways that are planned for Lake County can be built. Acres of

land will be made available for factory sites and the industrial development

of the entire northern part of the state will be enhanced. Under these circumstances H Is be lleved that the people of Lake County would be justified In asking the governor of the state. Its two senators and thirteen representatives to use their influence to secure the appropriation.

There Is the matter of strategy that

is to be taken advantage of too. Indiana is a pivotal state. It Is demo1cratlc at the present time. The only republican stronghold In the northern part Is Lake County. If governor

Marshall and the two United States senators were able to force through

this appropriation it is Tikely that it

would be appreciated by the voters of Lake County and would have its effect on the elections.

FIGHT TO GO ON. ; So it has been deemed advisable to

carry on the fight in the hope that something can be done at the present session of congress. At present the

Indiana Harbor proposition has re

ceived much favorable advertising and

an effort will be made to force the Issue while the matter Is In the minds

of the people. It is further argued

that if a big fight for the appropria

tion Is made now and It should fall at this session It would be almost sure to pass at the next session of congress

which will be held next fall.

The plan to send a big delegation of boosters to Washington originated in the East Chicago commercial club and

it has received the enthusiastic en

dorsernent of the Hammond and Whit

ing organiaztlons.

Lake County is determined to secure an appropriation from congress at the coming session and it Is lixely that

tne state or Indiana will send out a

car load of the noisest and most enthusiastic boosters that ever invaded

Washington In the. interests of a har bor measure.
