A special meeting of the members of Golden Rule Council No. 1 IX of L. was called for -two o'clock yesterday afternoon in the K. of P. Hall. There were many members in attendance at the meeting and a great deal of work was disposed of. The names of twelve candidates for membership were presented and( balloted upon. The members are preparing for a large class initiation to take place early in May. The members of Union Council No. 9 D. of L. will celebrate the seventh anniversary of their organlxation in Whiting and wil Initiate a large diss of candidates. The members of Triumph Councvil No. 11 I). of L have ben invited to do the initiatory work and the members of Golden Rule Council No. 1 IX of L. will give the drill work. A pleasant meeting of the members of Hammond Temple No. 73 Pythian Sisters took place last evening in the K. of P. Hall in South Hohman street. Six candidates for membership in the Whiting Temple were initiated. There was a large attendance of the membership and many visitors from Whiting were present.
On Monday night. April 29, Hammond lodge No. 210 K. of P, will give another of their series of entertainments for the ladies. This will be a ladies night in every sense of the word. A short program has been aranged after which there will be lunch and a "hop." All members of the K. of P order including sojourning brothers, their wives and families are invited to attend. There will bo a meeting of the members of Dorcas Rebeckah Lodge this evening in I. O. O. F. Hall in State street.
