COUPLE LAUDED 111 : JAIL BY FRIENDS New Bride and Groom Handcuffed by Cheerful Idiots at Indiana Harbor.
Mike growled a little bit, but Anally consented, provided the cigars , were ten cent ones. Then, catastrophe of catastrophes! Gastel frisked himself and found only a handful of small change. Ford was appealed to. Did he have the price of a box of ten-cent cigars. Sure, Mike. He waa separated from his hat and other personal property and his bride was held as hostage while he scurried out In search of the smokes for tho crowd. He returned in short order, the cigars were passed and the party allowed to depart.

There will be a meeting of the board of public works Tuesday Instead of on Monday, the usual day for the meeting, to further go Into this question and in the meantime the two. committees appointed by the mayor are to get together to arrive at a decision which they will be prepared to submit to the board at the meeting Tuesday. They think that now is the time for the citizens of Whiting to show their appreciation of the advertising Mr. Zimmerman has given the town, by maintaining a good ball club in the face of many financial losses, and come to his assistance by helping to rebuild the grandstand at the earliest possible moment. In speaking. of the unfortunate affair this morning Mr. Zimmerman said he didn't see how he could go ahead and rebuild the stand alone, as he had been under many heavy expenses lately and didn't feel that he could afford it. He said further that unless the citizens of Whiting would come to his assistance he was afraid he would have to disband his team and in that case Whiting would not have a representative in the Northern Indiana league this year. This
