Selling Basis. . Following the leadership of the
United States Steel corporation in put
ting steel bars at $1.20 per 100 pounds,
commencing April 20, almost all of the
larger company by a week.
The Lackawanna Steel company has secured the contract for the new Lackawanna, railroad cutoff calling for 2,000 tons of steel piling. Structural steel orders disclosed yesterday Include 2,800 tons for the Erie. The Brier Hill Steel company Is taking bids on 10,000 tons of structural steel for its new plant at Youngstown. The Lehigh Valley railroad has ordered 750 refrigerator cars from the Pullman company. The Great Northern order Is for 600 automobile cars placed with Haskell & Barker. The Grand Trunk will soon enter the market for thirty-six dining cars, while the St. Paul will buy fifty-five all steel passenger cars.
