(Special to The Times.) Whiting, Ind.. April 20. Vice Prest

dent C. A. Westberg of the East Chi

cago company and Mayor Beaumont Parks of Whiting returned yesterday

from Pittsburgh, Pa., where they went

to get permission from the H. C Frlck estate for the Standard Oil company to build a temporary dock on

the Frick property north of the E. J

& E. bridge.

Mr.. Frick is in Europe and his rep

resentatives got into communication with him by cable, a favorable reply

being received thl smorning.

The temporary dock will consist of

piling driven down to a , considerable

aeptn, lor the boats to tie up to, and a

platform Jutting to convey oil from the plant at Whiting, for shipment. Two of the pipes are 2 inches In diameter.

one of them to be use for the convey

ance of Humiliating oil and the convey-

for naptha. There is also a four inch pipe to convey fuel oil for use on the

boats of the Standard OH fleet

The Standard Oil company Is provid

ing this temporary dock as an accom

modation to the E. J. & E. and the American Bridge company which con

cern has the contract for the building

of the E. J & E. bascule bridge now In

process of construction. If they mad")

use of the dock they are building on

their own propert it would necessitate

the keeping open of the E. J. & E

bridge, and the abandonment of that track by them. It would also be necessary to construct the bridge in an up

right position, which would delay the

work materially and add to its cost

As it is expected the bridge will be

finished about August 1.

The bridge has been in process of

construction for two years. The orlg

Inal contractors, James Bros, met with misfortunes which necessitate their

turning over of the contract to other

contractors, after long delay.
