A COSTUME - PARTY. On of the mcit charmlni affairs of yesterday was a Japanese party et which Mm. J. ' Arthur Daris was hostess at her home in the Bungalow flats in Ada street. Mri. Davis entertained at a one o'clock .luncheon and afternoon party. The guests came in dainty and attractive Japanese costumes. The luncheon cloth was spread on the floor In the dining; room and the refT-esh-ments were served in three courses. The decorations In the home were unique-ana typically Japanese. During

tho afternoon the guests listened to .1 musical program while they devoted the hours to their nee'dle work. Mrs. Davis had as her guests, Mrs. A- H. Kale, Mrs. R. H. Price, Mrs. C. B. Stiver, Mrs. M. W. Stansbury, Mrs. A. O. Merrill. Mrs. C. D. Palmer, Mrs. A. It. Cross; Mrs. O. A. Lyon and Mrs. J. R. Stafford. . ; A PHETTV PARTY. - Mrs. 'Fred Prechtel was hostess at me of the prettiest parties of the 'Easter season yesterday afternoon at

her home in State Line street. The guests devoted the hours to their needle work until four-thirty o'clock when they were invited into the dining room and served with a three 'course luncheon- Pink and white w-ero tlvo prevailing colors in the dining: room.

Carnations and fcrna were used among

the decorations. Daintily decorated place cards marked the places of the guest at the table. At each cover were favors which suggested the Eastertide. The members will meet for another thimble party on the afternoon of April 11th when Mrs. Henry Morris will entertain at her home in Highland street. Mrs. Prechtel entetmlned in compliment to the members of the Eyelet Em

broidery Club. Miss Prechtel was an

invited guest of the hostess and the

Prechtel. A THIMBLE PARTY. Yesterday afternoon the members of the Oak Leaf Embroidery Club met with Mrs. Kenedy at her home In Truman'avenue and spent a delightful few hours. The guests were Invited to a thimble party and they spent the hours between two-thirty and four o'clock with their needle work. A prettily appointed luncheon of two courses was

served at four, o'clock. A bouquet of

American beauty roses decorated the table. Only the club members were in attendance at the meeting. They plan

ned for another social session to take place on the afternoon of April 11th when Mrs, Gallinger will be hostess at

her home in Alice street. Mrs. Gal

linger will ' entertain "at a thimble party.

A STIDV MEETING. The members of the history committee of the Hammond Womaii'i Club

will meet with Mrs. Leo Wolf at her

home in South Hohman street, Monday afternoon, April 1st. An an Interesting program has been prepared by the committee of which Mrs. J. C Graves is chairman. The social hour will be charge of Mrs. J. T. Hutton, Mrs. J. E Fitigerald, Mrs. C. G. Kingwill. Mrs. F. H. Hosier, Mrs. S. E. Swaim and Mrs.

Miss Margaret Bothwell at her home in Hoffman street yesterday afternoon. Following a program of games and contests a dainty two course luncheon was served. The members meet every Thursday afternoon. The arrangements were not completed for the next meeting but the hostess will be named later. A MISSIONARY MF.ETIXO. A very Interesting meeting of the

Baptist Women's Union took , place yesterday afternoon at the Home-wood residence ' of Mrs. Walter Hammond, 928 South Hohman street. Mrs. F. W. Kimball, vice president of the society presided during the business session. The meeting was in charge of the

missionary department of which Mrs. A. C. Berry is chairman. The members devoted the afternoon to the study of the Indian missions. Mrs.

Kimball, Mrs. J. U. Jones, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Floyd H. Adams and Mrs. C. H. See were among those who read interesting articles on the subject. .Mrs.

Wesley Bashore delighted her audience with a group of songs. Her piano accompaniment was played by Mrs. George Houser. Mrs. Houser also accompanied Mrs. Horton who rendered a very pretty violin selection. Harold

Hammond, the little son of the hostess played a cornet solo which was very much enjoyed. Refreshments were

served during the social hour.

ing of the Presbyterian Social Club

ed after the games. There was a large

attendance of the membership and a

-ery enjoyable evening Is reported.
