DENOUNCES SCOFFERS

Evangelist Chides Others

for Fearing Them. In an address on ""The Two Confes

sions"- at the Christian church last night Evangelist Snodgrass denounced

people who scoff at others' stand for

Christ and at religiou work. By way

of , introduction the evangelist said:

Cpon. even a superficial reading of

the text you will notice a plain reference to the two confessions I have in mind tonight. One is a confession be

fore God. the' other a confession before

man. One is a confession by man, the

other by Christ. One ia a confession

of sin, the other of righteousness.- One

Is a confession of Christ before man, the other a confession of man before

God. At the outset you must under

stand that before you can be ac

knowledged before" the throne of GCd

you must acknowledge Christ down

here. You can't get to Heaven except through, the Redeemer's cross."

girls both.

A prerequiste to a successful night

school in Hammond is a night school superintendent, a man of wide experience, who can devote all of bis time to the work. In the evening he would have to supervise the Instruction work, and prepare an elastic study course, suited especially to the needs of Hammond's night school students, and In the day time get Into personal contact with, the students at their .work, to study them and their needs there, in order that they may be given the prop-

The school board agreed with Supt.

McDaniel, that providing a night

school for the foreigners only, would be

slighting a larger class of boys and

girls and men and women, who too are

Justly entitled to the benefits of an

extra school course.

Expect Industrie Co-operation.

To reach the prospective night school

students, the co-operation of the va

rious concerns employing help will be asked. An effort will be made to reach

every employe to give him and her an opportunity to enroll. The applicants will be given the privilege of choosing mands It cmfwlw uyq uyq uqyuyqn their subjects and from these de-

An Idea of the comprehensiveness of

the study course can be gained from

the tentative list of study subjects. The

lists are as follows: Boys Mechanical drawing, element ary woodwork, electric wiring, com

th Gary & Interurban and the Gary & Southern Traction company get together on the proposition of giving the Kidge road district adequate traction service at the city hall conference tonight. The meeting is called by the South Side Improvement association and Mayor Knotts, city councllmen. members of the board of works, traction officials and newspapermen have been invited to attend th session. As matters now stand the G. & S. cars which connect with the downtown cars, the G. & I.'s at Calumet bridge, do not begin to operate until after mill workers have gone to work and they quit running just before supper time. The companies will not exchange transfers and thus Ridge roaders have to pay two fares to get downtown.

Mrs. K. C. Snodgrass. At the scoffers he took the following

thrust:

"There are hundreds of people in

Hammond who refuse to put their own convictions into practice simply because they are afraid of the fleers and

flouts of the enemy. A lot of you

folks are afraid to step out and make

your stand for Jesus Christ simply because you know that saloon bunch you

have been running with would make all manner of fun of you. And let me kindly ana affectionately and as gent

on this subject, tell you what I think of a crowd that will laugh at any

man's stand for the Christ life."
