Hansen, In which she alleges that for fifteen years their relations have been strained. It Is alleged in the complaint that Hansen told his friends that his wife was not true to him and that he made remarks about her calculated to injur her reputation In their eyes. It Is alleged that he ordered his eld est daughter to leave the house. That! on one occasion she had him arrested on the charge of assault and battery. They have four children and in the complaint the plaintiff asks for $1,000 alimony. It is alleged that the defendant was an habitual drunkard. The couple were married Feb. 1, 1S91. Father Also Sues. Alfred Simons by his attorneys. Granger and Ixtz, has filed an action against the Hammond, Whiting & Bast Chicago Railway company In which he asks damages for tho loss of services of liis son who, while working as a newsboy, was forced from a street car and sustained serious injuries in the fall to the pavement. A similar action was started by the father of the boy In an effort to recover damages for the boy's benefit. The accident happened on Jan. 24. LIGHT COMPANY WILL BE SUED Samuel A. Bucker, a patrolman in the Gary police department. Is about to institute proceedings against the Gary Heat, Light and Water company to recover 20.000 damages because of his' injuries he received while adjusting one of the company's street lights. His attorneys, W. J. McAleer of Hammond, and Seabrlght and White of Gary, will file the suit in the superior court today. On the night of Sept. 19 Officer Buckner noticed something wrong with the light at Eighteenth avenue and Broadway. He grasped the chain attached to the regulator and as he did so he received a. severe shock. Unable, to let go, he was severely burned about the body and for a while it was feared he would die. He was In Mercy hospital for three months and since then has been employed as acting desk sergeant because of his inability to do active street work. Sues 'for Damages. , John Torltz has started an action for 11.900 damages against the HymanMichaels company of East Chicago on account of Injuries he received when he was cut by a pair of power shears. The case was filed by Attorney I. I. j Modjeska. Meet Next Monday. There will be a meeting of the Lake County Bar association next Monday at the Lake .superior courthouse in Hammond. GOV. MARSHALL TO HELP CALUMET REGION Will Attend Harbor Meeting in Chicago Next Monday.
Gov. Marshall, unless something unforseen intervenes, will be in Chicago on Monday in attendance upon the meeting of the board of United States engineers to help boost the Improvement of the harbor at Indiana Harbor and of the canal and Calumet river before that body. Such was his promise to II. C. ftutledge, who visited him In Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago, when he represented the commercial Club of Indiana Harbor and East Chicago at the convention of the Federated Commercial clubs in that city. The promise was repeated to W. J. Whinery of Hammond, who was in Indianapolis on Monday and saw the governor on the same matter. Gov. Mar shall had not been Informed up to then that a change in the date of the meet ing had been made and was still under the impression that It would take plac on "Wednesday Instead of Monday, and had made all his arrangements accord ingly. but said he would change his plans to suit the change in date and that unless he found it utterly impos sible to attend, he would be on hand op the eventful day. NEW JACK THE HUGGER (Special to Tub Times.) Crown Point, Ind., March 21. A Jack the Hugger episode happened In the north end of the city last evening, the offender being arrested and Jailed by Deputy Marshal Metiler. The man is said to be mentally Irresponsible for the act and was not prosecuted, the parties preferring to avoid the pub licity entailed through a trial. The women of Crown Point will take steps to protect themselves against the "Jack the Hugger." Bad Break in Mains. Another bad break occurred in the water mains on Hohman street and Chicago avenue last night. It. was re ported to the city water department and this morning a force of men was put to work repairing the leak. The water department has had its hands full repairing mains this winter, hav ing an unusual amount of leaks. Republican Convention. , JThe next duty which the citizens of republican faith have to perform in Lake tounty is the election of delegates I to the state convention at Indianapolis on the 26 day of March and to the dis trict Jronvention at Hammond on, the 25 day of March. .-- Tbc state convention will be held for the purpose of selecting tour delegates at large to the national republican con vention at Chicago on June 18, 1912 and also four presidental electors. The district convention will be held for the purpose of nominating a candi date for the office of congressman and (delegates to the national convention from this district. Deputy Marshals Have Charge of TripDeputies of the office of United States Marshal I.uman T. Hoy will leave Chicago next Tuesday for San Fran Cisco to deport the largest aggregation of alien Chinese that has ver left th country at one time. Thirty-five Chi namen are in ihe party. Two of them were nabbed at Gibson in Hammond, Chief Deputy Marshal John P. Wolf and other deputies will leave Chicago with seven Chinese. At St. Louis he will receive for deportation nine aliens.
