The Orpheum bill this week contains three features that are alone worth the price of admission. Conrad and Monettl, comedy acrobats, are not so funny, but they do on of the most thrilling stunts that has ever been seen in vaudeville. Falling off from a chai set on four tables piled, one on top of the other, is a stunt that makes women gasp and men catch their breaths. Slrazal,& Ilazall, in a little one act comedy entitled the "Music Publisher," use that as the medium for exhibiting a great deal of talent. The musician at the piano covers up some mighty clever work w-ith the comedy of the act. One of the best features of the show, and one that always calls for vigorous applause is the Brooklyn Harmony Four. This Is a quartet of four young men who certainly can sing. MAY IRWIN TOMORROW The Hammond theatre has a steller attraction for tomorrow night in May Irwin In "She Knows Better Now." Miss Irwin is said to be the funniest woman in the world and she probably is. For years she has been making metropolitan audiences laugh, and it was only by chance that Manager Klngwell was able to secure a booking of her show in Hammond. From present indications the house will be sold out. The company she carries is a real May Irwin company, and a big laugh is in store for everybody who sees the performance. . Miss Irwin has just finished an engagement in Chicago, where her new play -was 'a great success". When Miss Irwin was in vaudeville she was one of the nignebt salaried women on tho

stage. She has gone back, to the legitimate, however, and is making a bigger hit than ever. "She Knows Better Now" Is her newest medium for fun making. EAST CHICAGO JBTJYS PARK The East Chicago Baseball association is now an Incorporated body owning property. The ball club has purchased ground for a park which will be put in shape as soon as the weather will permit, an,i the club Intends to go into baseball with even more enthusiasm than characterised it last year. The park comprised seven and onehalf acres and is located at the northeast corner of Forsyth avenue and 141st street. It is bounded on the north by 140th street, south by ltlst street, east by the alley running north and south between Olcott and Tod, and west by Forsyth avenue. The tract Is the same size and shape as the ball park at Indiana Harbor. The committee on grounds is already at work arranging for the purchase, of material for the fence and grandstand and as soon as the snow is off the j ground and the ground is in condition ' for the digging of holes for the fence posts, the fence will be built and the grand stand erected. The exact location of the grand stand has not been definitely decided upon, but It will probably occupy the northwest corner of the tract, at Forsyth and 140th street. The incorporation papers were sent to Indianapolis today, the Incorporators being the officers and directors of the ball club. TOLLESTOU Fred Layfield of Chicago will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Q. James over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles K. Dennlson were called to Joliet to visit Mrs. Dennlson's mother, who Is very 111. Mrs. Emery and daughter of Michigan will be the guest of Mrs. W. Hulbert for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. McCreary have removed to Fort Wayne, Ind. Miss Emma Conrad of East Side Is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Conrad on Grace avenue. Mrs. 1 W. Kramer has returned from several weeks' visit with relatives In Eiwood, Ind. James Apt will spend the week end In Valparaiso. Miss Hazel Robinson will spend Sunday in Chicago. Mrs. J. J. Deedel spent the day in Hobart. Miss Carrie Reeberger is spending the week end at her home In Crown Point. HOBART MAN FINDS PEARL II. E. Lemster came to this city from Hobart yesterday and brought with him a fine speciment of a pink pearl, which he found two weeks ago In Deep river. The jewel was taken from an ordinary clam shell. Is perfectly round, and the Jeweler to whom the man took the pearl for Inspection estimated Its Value at $75, and said there was a possibility that the find was worth twice that amount. Mr. Lemster left the pearl with the Lowensteln Jewelry section and it will be taken to Chicago within a few days to be examined by an expert, after which the actual value of the gem will be made known to the finder.
