OKE WAY OF BOOSTING TVIN CITIES At a meeting of the directors of the Commercial Club of Indiana Harbor and East Chicago last night, a new wrinkle in the way of boosting the twin cities was considered. The idea that was discussed, was to have circulars printed and distributed among the members of the club, so that they may be sent out in the business letters, which these various meiAberft ia v have. 1 ' J. E. McEldowney, representing the American Ileal Estate Advertiser ap
peared before the directors, and the
matter of boosting. East Chicago and Indiana Harbor was taken up with him, but nothing definite was decided. Another meeting to discuss the Same proposition will be held In the near uture. . .. .. The idea of boosting the twin cities by means of circulars In the business letters was advocated as feasible. In succinct but striking manner It would set out at a glane what the pre-eml-ent advantages of the two commuo Iles are. It would contain an enumera tion of all the railroads, the number of factories, the payroll of each, the number of men employed, out put, the anal and Us possibilities, and many other features. LAST POTION Tired of the sordid life that the scores of young women who are inmates of the resorts in the Gary underworld, Lucy Henakamp, twenty three years old, living at a place conducted by a notorious woman at 942 Jefferson street yesterday afternoon ended her troubles. The young wom an had previously attempted self de struction. The Henakamp girl took a draught of lysol about three o'clock and as soon as her condition was discovered a doc tor was summoned. He called an am bulanae to have her removed to the Gary General hospital but she died In. the vehicle and the ambulance was then driven to Hoover's morgue In Washington street. - She Loved m Cabmaa. According to one story the young woman was infatuated with a Broad way cabman. She was married but her husband's whereabouts Is unknown. The remains will be shipped to her mother's home, Mrs. Knight, at Lexing ton, Kentucky. It is probable that the police will In vestigate the case more thoroughly and close the resort which Is one of the most notorious in Gary's underworld. PLAY FIRST GAME OUT OF TOWN The Indiana Harbor polo team will play Us first out-of-town game Satur day night, when they meet a fas bunch of skaters at the Rivervlew rink. Coach Covington of Lafayette lias had charge of the Indiana Harbor team during the past -week . and th men are developing into a fast bunch under his instructions. Indiana ' Harbor will play their regular lineup and a number of fans from Indiana Harbor and East Chicago will attend the game In Chicago. 1 Officials of the National Bolt and Screw corporation have decided tha. its Lake county- subsidiary, the Gary Bolt and Screw company is to begin the operation of its plant ten weeks hene. "t "me time around the last of April. One thousand men, women and girls will be employed. , The plant which is located In the east part of Gary Just west of the Aetna powder mills is practically completed and the work of Installing the machinery has started. Twenty acres of land is owned by the company and it is adjacent to the Wabash, Baltimore and Ohio, and Lake Shore railroads, and is connected to all three, of them and with the Gary steel mills from where it will receive its billets by the Gary and Western belt line. 11,000,000 I Invented. , The buildings which cover four acres were erected at cost of $400,000. In addition to this a $5,000 sewer system and $60,000 worth of concrete floors and retaining walls were erected. Counting machinery the total expenditure upon the Gary factory will represent an Investment of more than $1.-
