Thirty members of the Pythian Sisters and Daughters of Liberty were present as invited .guests. Mrs. Barker came to the Haney horn to attend a dramatic club rehearsal and was

completely surprised In finding the narlors filled with her friends. The

evening was very enjoyably spent lu music and games. A two course luncheon was served, at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Haney as hostess presented Mrs. Barker with a basket fllled:with flowers as tlie expression of esteem and love of thpse present. Mrs. Barker responded in a, very happy and pleasant manner. A DANCE. ' One of the' prettiest dances of the winter was given by the young women

of the. O. T. -M. Club last evening In Weis Hall In State. V It wae the second party in a series at which these young people wil be hostesses this season. A number of invitation were Issued among their friends in Hammond and East Chicago and between sixty and seventy guests enjoyed the hospitality of the club members. The guests began to arrive at eight-thirty o'clock and the hours until midnight were spent in dancing. The program of dances Included the Circle Two Step

Joyable. The hall was very beautifully

decorated in green and white. The lights were shaded with the colored

paper and festoons of green and white crepe paper were stretched from the

chandeliers to various parts of the hal!

The arches and windows were hung with streamers of crepe paper. In the parlors and refreshment room the same

dainty colors were used among the decorations. Frappe was served during the evening. The party was one of the prettiest of the winter and proved to

be one of the most enjoyable at which

this company' of young people have been entertained. The following Hammond and East Chicago young women were hostess at the delightful affair. Mrs. A. Deputy Sheriff George Blockl threw scare into officialdom at the Gary

city hall this morning when he arrived

ments, it was feared that the deputy

snerirc naa come to make some more arrests, and for a few minutes many officials were trying to recall the telephone numbers of possible bondsmen. However, Mr. Blockl brought no warrants. He had a lot of injunction notices which he served on City Treasurer E. C. Simpson and others Interested. ? '. These notices come from the Tolleston Gun club and recite that on Feb. 15 it will ask Judge McMahan of the circuit court. Crown Point, to issue a temporary order, restraining the city from selling some of the club's prop

bers of the Good Will Club took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Smith in Kane avenue. Cards

were the principal feature of entertainment and several games of pedro were played during the afternoon. Three tables were occupied. The honors in the games were won by Mrs.

Nicholas, Mrs. Kralowetz, Mrs. Mabel Truedell and Mrs. Hill. The consolation prize was awarded to llrs. Charles Luthman. At the conclusion of the

A LEAGUE METING. An enjoyable meeting of the mem

bers of St. Paul's Lutheran League took place last evening in the school hall at the corner of Sibley street and Oakley

avenue. There were between thirty-

five and forty members In attendance and they report the meeting as having been one of the most enjoyable of the winter. The Misses Edna Euwert, Lilly Fedder, Cora Buehring and Adele Mers were hostesses. Following a short musical and literary program various games were played. At ten o'clock a daintly arranged two course luncheon was served. The members will have a business meeting on the evening of February 22nd and a larg3
