The city council will meet tonight for the purpose of organizing the fire department, the members to be named by the council, with the privilege of, naming the fire chief being confined to the mayor. The drop from forty members to twenty-five under the new city regime will leave oxer a dozen members out ia the, cold and the council will hare a delicate Job in doing the weeding out process. The town department contained members who had belonged to the organization for over thirtyfour years. The age limits-provided in the city ordinance Is that the members shall be over 21 and under 4. and this cuts down the present force to about half, the organization containing many members over that age. It is said that Daniel W. Vincent, the present chief, is slated for the Job and will probably be named by the mayor tonight.
Close to one hundred dog licenses have been issued up to the present time hy the city clerk, but it is said that many more are still unlicensed and untagge4. All owners who have paid the

The Woman's Study club met in the library yesterday afternoon wih a large attendance. Mrs. Etta Vilmer's "Symposium of Lake County" was ex
ceedingly interesting and brought out
many points of local history. Mrs.
Miortrldge led a lively table talk on "The White Plague," ami after the critics' report the club adjourned, leaving but scant time for the 'students to run for home and assume Bridget's
apron before the evening meal.

SURELY BREAKS UP A BAD COLD ft is a positive fact that a dose of Pape's Cold Compound taken every two hours until three consecutive doses are taken will cure Grippe or break up the most severe cold, either in the head, chest, back, stomach or limbs. You distinctly feel the cold breaking and all the disagreeable grippe
symptoms leaving after the very first dose. It promptly ends the most miserable headache, dullness, head and nose stuffed up, feverishness. sneezing, sore throat, running of the nose, ucous catarrhal discharges, soreness, stiffness and rheumatic twinge. Hspf's Cold Compound is the result of three years' research at a cost of more than fifty thousand dollars and contains no quinine, which we have conclusively demonstrated is not effective in the treatment of colds or grippe. Take this harmless Compound as directed, with the knowledge that there is no other' medicine made anywhere else in the world, which will cure your
; cold or end Grippe misery as promptly
and ithout any other assistance or bad after-effects as a 25-cent package of Pape's Cold Compound, which any druggist in the world can supply.
