A SOCIAL KTERTAUHENT. , Mr. and Mrs. Claude 1. ralmer were host and hostess at one of the most delightful parties of the week end last evening at their home in May street. Their guests wero all friends in the neighborhood who met and enjoyed various social (fames and music. Mr. Klnsey entertained with several pretty clarinet selections. A SI R IRI S K PA HTY. The members of the Eyelet Embroidery Club had another of their pleasant meetings yesterday afternoon. The party was given as a surprise to. Mrs. Harrison II. Cappis at her home In West Hammond and was planned in celebration of the first anniversary of the organization of the club. The members were, all present with the exception of Mrs. J. C. Iavene who is spending the winter in California. The invited guests were Mrs. Anna Hess, Mrs. J. J. Rahen and Mrs. W. Patterson. An enjoyable time was spent socially in conversation and several of the guests de-oted the afternoon to their needle work. At four o'clock a beautifully appointed four course luncheon was served. A bouquet of pink and white carnations

decorated the table. The arrangements for the meotlng in two weeks were not completed but announcement orit will be made during the coming week. Mrs. Fred Prechtel. Mrs. Walter Lanborne Mrs. I J. Haefer, Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Clyde Petrle and Mrs. II. H. Cappis were the- members present. " '' AS' AFTERXQOX PARTY. " A very pretty party was given by Mrs. W. A. Buchanan at her home in South Hohman street yesterday In honor of the members of the Alpha Phi Club. It was the afternoon for their regular bi-monthly meeting and all the members were present-with the exception of three who were detained on account of ilness. The guests enjoyed the social diversions, usually a feature -of the meetings. They devoted the afternoon to their needle work and music until four o'clock when refreshments wera served. A beautifully appointed luncheon of three courses was served at the small tables. Mrs. E. W. Bump will entertain, the club members at a Valentine party Wednesday afternoon, February 14th at her home in South Hohman street. There . ill be no club meeting In two weeks on Friday which Is the regular meeting day.

MEETINU WAS POSTPONED. The girls of the Bonita Club postponed the meeting which was announced to take place last evening on account of Illness among the members, 'a meeting may be arranged for Friday evening. February 9th and definite announcement of it will be made later. Miss Madaline G.-istel of Williams street will be the next hostess and will entertain at a thimble party. WILL, MEET FRIDAY. Xext Friday evening, February 9th Miss Blanche Irish will entertain the young women, of the J. F. F. Club ar her home in Ada street. The evening will be devoted to games and contests and a pleas.tnt social time is anticipated. There was no meeting last evening which was the evening for the regular meetng. . POSTPONE THE MEETING. A very interesting program has been prepared for the afternoon. '

the Riverside School held their regular monthly me-tting at 'three o'clock yesterday afternoon in the school hall. Although tha weather was rather severe, there was an exceptionally large attendance of members. There were between seventy-five and one hundred members present. The meeting was on of the largest and most Interesting of the year. The Rev. Charles Albert Smith rector of St. Paul's Eplscopat church gave a splendid talk on "Tha Benefits to be derived from our Public Library" and urged that the mother and teachers encourage the young people to patronize the library. He explained that the IJbrary Board Is particularly interested in the selection f books for children and that the members hope in the near future to have a special room fitted up for their books and to be used as a reading room. The remainder of the program was as follows:

MRS. HOHMAN ENTERTAINS. The members, f the Marqtiette Club

met at the home of Mrs. Charles G. Hohman in Mason street yesterday afternoon for their regular bi-monthly meeting. Mrs. John McDermott and Mrs. E. R. Dlsbrow of Chicago were the out of town members present. Mrs. Hohman entertained with cards and

bridge whist was played, at four tables. After several games the honors were

awarded. Mrs. T. W. Oberlin scored high and the second honors were won by Mrs. B. L. P. Belt At the conclusion of the games a luncheon was served. The refreshments were served in three courses. In two weeks on Friday afterioon, February 16th Mrs. Jeanle Sawyer will entertain at a bridge party at her home in Clinton street. It will be the last meeting before the Lenten season. A BRIDGE WIHST PARTY. Bridge whist was played progressively by a number of young women who gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman in Ann street last evening. Two tables were occupied and after several games dainty refreshments were served. The hostesses and guests included the following Hammond young women, the Misses Ada McKnight. Alice Nooney, Bertha and Beatrice Hansen, LeMyra Gillls, Belva Burt, Florence Dolph and Elizabeth Wagonknechl. A CONCERT.
