Mr. Merchant: If you didn't advertise in 1911, just try it this year, what advertising has done for others it will do for you. Let us ask, did you ever hear of a man going bankrupt for spending money for advertising? We can name you scores around here who didn't advertise and, went bankrupt.

the first of next year. Trustee Becker, Superintendent Heigh way, tne advisory board, and Messrs. Gorman and Dedelow visited the public school buildings at Griffith, Ross and Glen Park. They were particularly Impressed with tho arrangement of the Ross school. Her it was found that every square foot of space was used to advantage. The building has the further advantage tha it is so arranged that additions can easily be made to the main building, without any interference to the room in the original structure. The proposed school building is to cost in the neighborhood of ten or twelve thousand dollars. It is to be of brick and stone construction and Is to have four rooms. The present school building while not an old is Inadequate because of lack of room both on the inside and on the outside. The children have no playgrounds, and the building being on the main thoroughfare for automobiles, the children are subjected to constant danger as they play In the street. The new building is to be surrounded by ample playgrounds and is to stand on a side street.

01 MILLION TOIIS ARE HARVESTED "When the Knickerbocker Ice company concludes its ice harvest on Wolf lake next week more than 1,000,000 tons will have been stored away in Icehouaes in this region. The ice supply then will be distributed as follows: Company. ' Tons. Knickerbocker Ice Co. ...... . .1,000,000 G. H. Hammond Co 85,000 Otto Haehnel 6.000 The Knickerbocker company has four houses on Wolf lake, three of these are on the Indiana side and one in Illinois. In addition to these it has houses at Lake Calumet, near Kensington and Pullman, and at Cedar Lake, Lake county. Otto Haehnel is the only one to harvest his supply on Lake George. The capacity of his house is 6,000 tons. The ice this year" grew to be 20 inches thick, which is about five inches too thick for convenient handling. The Knickerbocker people have all their ice down to 15 inches thickness, but the G. H. Hammond company stores it away In its original size. . . ' All of the Icehouses carry an oversupply for one season, so that in the event of a mild winter to follow there will not be so much danger of a total ice failure the following summer.
