A.N EXTEBTADTMENT.

Two hundred or more people heard

Arthur J. Fischer give his play "A Pal

of Spectacles" at the First M. E. church

in Russell street last evening. It will

be remembered that Mr. Fischer came here early in the season and gave oiw act of his play in connection with the program offered at the Hammond thea

tre during the week of January 7th

This arrangement was made only after

it was found impossible to comfortably

heat the church. The members feel that

they were very fortunate in securing

Mr. Fischer for a return engagement ot

this time to give the many people an

opportunity to iear the program in its

entirety. The entertainment was the third in the course offered by the members of the Epworth League 1 of tin Methodist church and furnished by the

Redpath-Slayton Lyceum Bureau of

Chicago. The fourth and last of the enl

tertalnments will be given by Mr. Colby,

the cartoonist on the evenlg of January

30th. Mr. Fischer entertained with hia

play "A Pair of Spectacles" and with

out the aid of scenery, make-ups or costumes he took the many parts of the

play in a manner that brough out each

character vividly, making It as clear to the audiences as if the chracters in the ply were all carrying out their respective parts. "A Pair of Spectacles" is the story of two brothers, one a pessimist and the other an optimist and it is full of humor and good sound

philosophy. The evening's entertain

ment was thoroughly enjoyed. Preceding Mr. Fischer's program, Theodore Moor gave a hort organ recital. , A BRIDGE DIWER. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Johnston were host and hostess to the members of the Jf. P.
