EXTEND TO GARY . " There Is some talk that the Chicago and Wabash Valley railroad, as the Gifford line, which Is referred to as a railroad which "begins somewhere and which ends nowhere." will ba extended into Gary this spring and summer, Representatives of the railroad were in the steel city yesterday afternoon. The present northern terminus of the line In In Eagle Creek township, this county. It extends southward for some thirty-five miles. The line was built by Mr. Gifford to assist in the develop-, ment of reclaimed marsh land In the Kankakee valley. It Intersects the Monon, Three-I and other roads. This line was built in 1898, the first eplke having been driven on August 15 by Mrs. Joseph Carpenter. Attorney W. F.
