. East Chicago Is to have a new musical club. It objects are not musical ..alone, aa it will embody a literary department. but.it will make a specialty of music. : The enterprise was launched yesterday at ' the Congregational parsonage and promises to -fir. a ion if felt' want in East Chicago There were thirtythreer ladies present, all of -whom will :,be members, and it is likely as mar.y more can be found who would like to '3o1n. It, 'tf - the club decides to take In '. large membership. At present, however, it is in embryotle state, and the
members themselves are not quite certain Just what their .policy will be. , Mra. Alexander Monroe, at whose home the meeting was held, was elected president, over her earnest protest, she finally consenting to act in that capacity when urged by all present. She expressed her appreciation of the honor, although she was reluctant to undertake the responsibilities it entailed. . .'...' Mrs. . A. Z. Campbell was named as vice president and Mrs. Haugh secretary. No treasurer- has as yet been elected. The 'meeting opened at 2:0 o'clock and the entire situation was thoroughly discussed. The idea of having a club of the kind met with Instantaneous and hearty approval, there being an unusually large number of limbic lovers and excellent performers in East Chicago In proportion to the size of the town. Elocution will be a feature of the work of the organization.

Many of the purchasers of property, are buying for an investment with the view of building and reaping their benefits when the rush of next spring will have opened up.
