ORPHEUM GREAT BILL. The big Allardt circuit evidently didn't muster all Its forces on the bill that opened the new Orpheum. The second prograrn, which opened yesterday, at the State street playhouse ' is pleasing If not more so than that
which marked the opening.
So evenly balanced Is the current
offering that it would te hard to de
termine which holds the distinction of being the headliner. Every act Is so different from anyother that is hard to compare them.
For beauty -and grace the Farber
sisters are undoubtedly entitled to the capital prize. If fine character acting, novelty of; conception, handsome
sartorial creations and "ginger" are
to be taken into consideration Graham
& Randall are first past the post. Th
laughing purse Is ilufford & Chain's
without an effort. The Ahlzbergs are
the only entries in the athletic stakes and were there others they would un
doubtedly have a fine show.
"A Gay Old Boy" is the title of Mr.
Graham and Miss Randall's sketch.
Ilufford and Chain are the biggest
fun makers on the program. Tha
Ahlbergs do some fine acrobatics but
might eliminate their comedy.

CLUB IS QUIET JUST NOW There is is not much being done to promote the membership of the new Hammond Country club. The reason is
that there are other matters which are of greater importance at the present time. The club Is getting ready to adop': plans for the country club and then the contract will be let for its construction. These and other matters have made the canvas for members drag at the present time. . The progress so far indicates that the membership of the club will be easily filled. That makes any further canvas at this time unnecessary. The work on the club house will begin as soon as the frost is out of the ground.
