Word was received here on Tuesday to the effect that Joseph Kasper had beef killed by an Illinois Central train at Hawthorne, 111. Mr. Kasper was calling on a friend of his, who was an I. C. flagman and had gone out with him to hang up some lanterns when the'accident occurred.N Kasper was for many years a resident of Stieglitz Park. The family only recently moving to Whiting, where they reside on 121st street. Mr. Kasper had been working at Hawthorne, but his wife and six children were still living in Whiting. O. Weidman of Schrage avenue was quite severely burned while at work at the Standard OH company. Weidman stepped into a condenser containing boiling hot water.
