A delightful' party was grlvn as a surprise to Miss IJllian lllcnbarii last Saturday evening at her home, 190 Towle street. The party was given in

eeJebrationof her birthday anniversary and she received many pretty gifts in remembrance of the day. The evening was passed very 'pleasantly with dancing, music and games. A supper was served at eleven o'clock: Among the guests were. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Opperman ami daughter, Ruth, the Misses I-.il Han Huffman and Alma Arndt, Mttsnrs. mas party to which all the members were Invited. They met for a social time and enjoyed work and music. Several of the members entertained with mush; and their program 'was enjoyed". The Christmas Grab Hag was the feature of the e-vening. Kaca member brought an article for the Grab Pag and many pretty gifts were exchanged. The home was very atra-tlvely decorated in the holiday colors of red anj green. ' A Christmas tree elaborately trimmed was a pretty decoration in the parlor and in the other rooms thei'c were Christmas bells, and holly. The serving of a dainty two eourae luncheon at ten-thirty o'clock concluded the evening's entertainment. Miss' 1 lerbst's guests were Mrs. John J. Claussen. the Misses Bertha Maleltske, Lilly and Meta Fedder, Kmily and Bertha Kbert. Gertrude Claus, Hulda and Lillie Klein. A SOCIAL EVENT. -' Mrs. R S. Groman, Mrs. G. I. Smith and Mrs. H. K. Tne afternoon hours were, devoted to needle work. Mr-,. L. I- Bomberger sang a group of songs., among them "O Perfect .Day" V and' "Swinging in the Grape Vine Swing." She responded to an encore. Mrs. K.. M. Dinwiddie of Crown -Point, who is Mrs. Groman's house guest entertained With several beautiful, instrumental selections. Their program was a delightful feature of the afternoon. The1 serving of dainty refreshments , at five o'clock s concluded one of the, pleasantest parties of the series arranged by the members for this winter.
