(Special to The Times.) Indiana Harbor, Dec. IS. Tne'i Soutn Bay Hotel was the scene Saturdaynight of one of Its small but brilliant dances which have characterized tire

winter months for several seasons past. The event of Saturday was one of tha

most enjoyable that has yet taken place In the hotel. About twenty-five couples wer present.

When the guests 'first arrived they

were met by the strains of a fine baritone voice, acompanled. by what seeme I

to be a full band. The band however

proved to be a one man band, a mem

ber of Fred p. Green's vocal and instrumental trio, who played half a dozen instruments at one and the same time.

while Mr. Green himself performed upon the piano, acompanying his own singing. The music was a distinct novelty, the singing going on all through the dancing. It being the- first time the Soutn Hay crowd has had tne opportunity to dance to a combination of vocal and instrumental music. The trio which is niaragcd by Mr. Green, and of which

only two of the members were present.

has been much taken up by Chicago clubs in Chicago, being quite the latest thing in dancing and in musical circles in the metropolis. The artsts are from Australia, having won fam for themselves in thajt country and in F.urope and having come to Chicago only tills fall. The early hours of the evening were devoted to the waltz and the two-step, but later the evening was more informal, the Virginia Reel being introduced. The supper was a monument to the skill and , efficiency of the South Bay

culinary department. There was great

abundance ot everything was good

child' toy being set beside the plate of each guest. These helped out the decorative effect and served to nliven

the supper. Many of the women guests were very handsomely attired, their elegant costumes adding much to the brilliancy of the occasion. A number

of the guests were from out of town.

Red Cross Stamp Sale. The Red Cross seal committee which hag charge of selling the little stickers in Hammond, has found the Ilamyiond postofflce a good place tn which to dispose'of the seals. Beginning last Friday noon until Saturday night fifteen dollars worth of seals were sold there. Th committee, which is headed' by Mrs. Ralph Ross, has still to hear from a number of the factories and corporations and is in hopes that their purchases will swell the Hammond fund

materially. One Hammond manufacturer informed the committee that he hart nurchased his supply of seals in

Chicago, thus giving the credit to that city when Hammond might have had it.

The money, too. that he has expended will be expended in Illinois in the fight against tuberculosis.
