SIDEM POLICE Hammond Men Perfectly Willing to Stand by the Authorities-
A Game Dinner. One of the most delightful and unique game dinners that has ever been given in Hammond was served by P. M. Riley, Lochiel Simpson and F. AJlen in Simpson's barber shop, on Sibley streetlast evening, at 10 o'clock. The dinner was the outcome of a chiding, remark - made by Riley to the effect that If Simpson and Allen could kill enough rabbits to feed a dozen or more people that Riley would furnish the rest of the dinner. A bargain was made then and there, and the local nimrods secured seven rabbits. Riley furnished the rest of the Somewhat elaborate menu and promptly at 10 o'clock the guests put
their feet under the festive board. The dinner was first class, the rabbits stuffed with an oyster dressing, was delicious and the whole affair was served by the porters from Allen's and Simpson's barber shops. After the dinner Simpson passed around thecisrars and the boys sat around the table and spun yarns for an hours or more. Among those who were present were P. M. Riley, William Kain, Tony Gajer, I Kagler, I B. Haddock, I VT. Simpson, .Roberts Jennings, F. Allen, F. J. O'Rork. F. Perkins, Roscoe E. Woods, JO. A. Cruzan, M. Scherer, G. G. Hammond poolroom owners are satisfied' with the ordinance which went Into effect recently and which compels the closing of the poolroooms at 12 o'clock. "I, would make no objection," said Lawrence Cox, owner of a poolroom and bowling alleys, "if they compelled us to close at 11 o'clock. He always tried to keep out the minors, and we'll continue to do so as much as lies in our power." James. Bradford, who recently took oyer ' thepoolroom and bowling alleys opened by hin on the second floor of the Hohman building and which he subsequently sold to Gill 6nly to rebuy it, thought that a, 1 o'clock closing ordinance would be more advantageous
Enjoyable Affair-
The. regular bi-monthly dance given by the University club in its ball room was a very enjoyable affair. While the dance was in progress a large number of the members of the club enjoyed themselves at cards. There were four tables of bridge and a number of couples dancing. Punch was served and the music was
ffurnished by Elster's orchestra, Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Graham had guests from Des Moines, la., who were present. The entertainment committee , announces that the regular program of entertainment will be adhered to unless notices to the contrary are sent out. Owing to the fact that an extra dance was given last Friday, many of the members took it for granted that there would be no dance last night, and accordingly the attendance was light. ,
