ever, had the effect of changing ' his mind and he put up like the rest. The case had been continued a number of time, as, the witnesses told conflicting stories. The. one crowd who
preferred the charges against Buckley were very glib in asserting that the trouble occurred before 10 o'clock, which voluntary information aroused the suspicions of Judge Riley. Buckley, on the other hand, said that it was some ' time between It and midnight. The judge knew some one was lying, and continued the case from Saturday until Monday. The tangle being even then unwound, he again continued the hearing until yesterday. . at which Dr. Herskovitz was a .witness testifying that h had sewed up Buckley's Wounds about the head after 10 o'clock.
