Schneider, a male inhabitant and resident of the said City, Township, County and State of Indiana, and Is over the age of twenty-pne years and has resided In the -State of Indiana more than one year and In the City of Hammond, Lake County. Indiana, for more than six months prior to the date of this notice. CALUMET HARBOR AGAIN IN SIGHT , Lake Calumet harbor is again in sight. The council committee on harbors, wharves and bridges has made its report after an investigation of se-veval months. The appointment of two harbor commission1 is advised, one for local harbor construction,' the other to urge similar actio nat Zither lake ports. Four harbor districts Are described, one including Calumet lake and river. Several ordinances in line with the above were also introduced, deferred an publshed. They will probably come up for action at the next council meet ing. Aldermen Block and Emerson are members f this committee, and to them is due credit for the local recommendations. At their request Henry W, Lee presented the Calumet project to the committee. The fate of the local harbor is now with the city council. Local aldermen , are optimistic, and predict tha definite plans will be adopted in time for work next year. Calumet Record. December 15 DateDecember 15 is the date set for asking bids from the contractors for the erection of Gary's Carnegie library, the estimated cost of which Is $65,000. The structure will be located in Fifth avenue, near the $250,000 Y. M. C. A. buildj ing and the I'nited States government $123,noo building which will be erected In . the spring. . There is considerable excitement among Cro ations employed at the cement works at Buffington over the refusal on the part of the foremen to allow them to take a day oft recently to attend the funeral of Mrs. Peter Horalovich. The men, who are all members of the Croatlon National 'Society, which organl zation imposes a fine of $2 on members who fail to attend a funeral when appointed to this duty, had been given leave of absence for the occasion, but the permission was countermanded later, th Croations, It is alleged, being given to understand that if they did not come to work on the day of the funeral they need-not come back. The foremen declare the order emanated from the officials of the plant, but the members of th organization feel hard toward the foremen, declaring; them to blame.
