AX AFTEnSOO PARTY. One of the prettiest parties of the week-end was given by Mrs. W. F. Brunt yesterday afternoon at her hoine in Mason street. Mrs. Brunt entertained the member of the Colonial club and a few other friends. It was the afternoon for the regular meeting: of the Colonial club and all the members were present. The guests were received in the parlors where the afternoon's entertainment was given. The parlors were prettily decorated with oowers and foliage, carrying out the autumn tints of red and gold. During the afternon the guests embroidered and music
was one of the pleasant features. Tho serving of a dainty luncheon followed
at four o'clock. The covers were laid
at several small tables in the parlors. Mrs. Brunt had as her invited guests

A SOCIAL SESSION.
A very enjoyable meeting of the
members of Circle No. 1 took place
yesterday and Mrs. Jacob Kusmaul was
hostes at her home in Clinton street.
The meeting was largely attended by
the. members and they spent a pleasant
time, socially. The guests met at the
card tables and after several games of
pedro. the honors were awarded. Mrs.
Ida Hoffman won the first honors, Mrs.
Caroline Dibos, the second and the con
solation prfze was awarded to Mrs. Mat
Klein. A dainty luncheon was served after the games. The refreshments were served at smal tables in th parlors. It was the regular bi-monthly
social meeting to which all the 'members were invited and there was a large ! attendance). The members are invited
to be the guetss of Mrs.Jaeob Wels at
her home in Douglas stret, Thursday-
afternoon, October 26th. a social Gathering.
The members of the Acme Social club were the guest sof Mrs. Barney Kenny yesterday afternoon at her borne in Wilcox street. It was their bi-monthly
social meeting and the twelve members of the club were present to enjoy the entertainment. The guests met at the card tables and played several games of pedro. After seven games the honors were awarded. ' Mrs. Barney Kenny
won the first honors and the only other
honors. were. won by Mrs. Harvey Cleve
land. At the conclusion of the games other social diversions .were enjoyed until four-thirty o'clock when a dainty
luncheon was served. The refreshments
were served at the small tables. Mrs.
M. Q. Lavene was named as the next
hostes and she will entertain the mem'
bers at her home in Oakley avenue,
Thursday afternoon, October 26th. MISS ROHRMAN ENTERTAINS.
Miss Anna Rohrman was hostess to
the members of the Sunshine club at their meeting yesterday afternoon at her home in East State street. Miss
Rohrman entertained at cards and the guests met at the small tables in the
parlors and enjoyed several games of
pedro. Mrs. J. P. Ryan won the first honors in the games, Mrs. Thomas Spencer, the second and the consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Charles
Luthman. At the conclusion of the
games there was music and an enjoy
able time was spent in social conversation. A dainty luncheon of two courses
was served-at five o'clock. The covers
were laid at one table in the dining
room. Pretty decorations of howers
and ferns were used. The arrange
ments were not made for the meeting In two weeks but announcement of it will

HOLD WEEKLY MEETING.
The weekly meeting of the members
of the Ladies' Aid society of the Pin
street Presbyterian church took, place
yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs,
Hunt in Pine street. The usual large
number of members attended the meet
ing and among the visitors during the
social hour were the Rev. A. W. Hoff
man and the Rev. E. Hudson of Chi
cago Lawn, former pastor of the Pine street Presbyterian church. The mem
bers devoted the afternon to sewing for the bazaar which wll be given In the near future and a great deal of work
was' accomplished1. After the business
meeting a pleasant time was spent so
dally. During the social hour dainty
refreshments were served. Mrs. Wil
liam Bpthwell will entertain the ladles
of the society at their meeting next Thursday afternon at her home In Hoff
man street. A large attendance of
members Is desired as business of lm portance wil be transacted.

A STL'DY MEETING. The Child Culture department of the
Woman's Union of the First Baptist church met yesterday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. J. U. Jones, 436 Michigan avenue. The early part of the meeting was taken up with the adoption of a constitution for the union, after which Mrs. Floyd H. Adams gave an excellent
talk upon the home, setting forth the place of honor that the father shouH
be given the duties of the mother as overseer or guardian of the physical, mental and moral well being of her children and in closing said the "An ideal home should be a place where all
the members should have the greatest
freedom of expression within the
bounds of propriety." The attendance
was the largest since the organizations
of the club six months ago.
TO HOLD SACRAMENTAL SERVICE.
The quarterly sacramental service
will be held at the First Methodist church next Sunday morning. The pastor Rev. W. F. Switzer will preach a brief sermon introductory to the work of the new conference year. He will
be assisted in the service by Rev. Geo. R Streeter and Dr. W. Mayes Martin. A SEVEN O'CLOCK DINNER. The-engagement of Miss lone Hunt and M. P. Ludwlg was announced at a beautifully appointed dinner given last evenig by Mrs. A. S. Hunt at her home in East -Sibley stret. Miss Mayfa Haines of Detroit Mich., who will be the house guest, of Miss Hunt until after her marriage, received with the hostess. The gueses were Invited into the dining room at seven o'clock and served with a dinner of five courses. A color scheme of red and white prevailed

the First Christian church met for an
all day session yesterday in the social
rooms of the church in Calumet avenue. It was the regular weekly meetlpg and the usual business and social program was folowed. There, was the usual large number of members in attendance. A dinner was served at twelve o'clock and a short business session followed. During the business meeting plans were made for the meeting to be held Thurday afternoon of next week at
which a large attendance is desired.
