Mrs. Georare Trackert very delightfully entertained a few friends at her home In State Line street yesterday afternoon. The party was Riven in celebration of her birthday anniversary and she received many very pretty Rifts in remembrance of the day. The guests were received informally in the parlors where the hours were spent pleasantly with needle work and music. The flowers used in the decoration of the parlors were pink and white roses and carnations. At four-thirty o'clock th gruests were invited into the dlnlnj room and served with an elaborate luncheon of two courses. The table decorations were chrysanthemums and the color scheme was attractively carried out in green and white. Among th guests were Mrs. Ed Laws of Crown Point; Mrs. John Plegsie of Chicago; Mrs. H. An enjoyabre atternon was spent by the Iadies of the Knights of Columbus who were in attendance at the meeting yesterday in the K. of C. club rooms in South Hohman street. The guests met al the card tables and enjoyed playing sevora lgames of pedro. After seven games the honors were awarded. Mrs. John Becker received the first honors, Mrs. Peter Halfman, the second and the consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Kenny of East Chicago. After the games a pleasant time was spent in converastlon and dainty refreshments were served." There were many members in attendance at the meeting and they reported having passed a pleasant afternoon. The next meeting will take place In two weeks and the same social program will be followed. There were many members present and among th visitors was the organizer, Mrs. Merrill of Division Js'o. 236 of Chicago. The routine business was .disposed of and during the business meeting plans were made for a ball to be given Thanksgiving evening at the Masonic Temple. The members of the G. I. A. to the B. of L. E. and the B. of L E. will be hosts and hostesses. A picnic dinner was served at noon and a pleasant time was spent In a social way. The next regular meeting will be held in two weeks. There was a large attendance of members of the meeting of the Ladies' Aid society of the First Presbyterian church held yesterday afternoon in the social rooms of the church in South Hohman street. There was an important business session when several matters of Interest to the members were disposed of. Mrs. Minnie Kline was elected president to fill the vacancycaused by the resignation of Mrs. M. L Bull. The vice president is Mrs. Frances Kingsley and the second vico president, Mrs. George Itawling. Mrs. O. A. KrinblU will continue to serve as secretary of the society. The members also discussed the bazaar to be given early in December. The definite announcement of it will be made later. There was an enjoyable social hour when refreshments were served. A BI SIESS MEETING. An important meeting of the members of the Jewish Ladies' Aid society took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. S. Lavine in East State street. It was the regular bi-monthly meeting and the usual large number of members attended. The plans for

The members of the Deborah Aid society of the P'irst Christian church met for an all day session yesterday in the church social rooms in Calumet avenue. It was the weekly meeting and the usual number of members attended, Mrs. Bydee and the members of her committee entertained. They had sale of home bakery- in connection with the meeting from which they realized a nice sum. The proceeds will be used for the benefit of the church. The da? was devoted to sewing and a great deal of work was accomplished. A large at tendance of members is desired at the meeting next Wednesday. The members will meet for an all day session and will be entertained by the members of Committee No. 3 of which Mrs. Prim mer is chairman. There will be an lm portant business session at which time the members of Committee No. 2 will give their report. MEET TODAY. Calkins No. 248 W R. C. this evening. After the regular lodge session a pleasant time will be spent socially. A large attendance of members is desired at the meeting. REMOVED FROM HOSPITAL. Mrs. D. O. Blanchard who has been ill in a Chicago hospital for several weeks 'was removed . to her home In Hamlin street yesterday afternon. Mrs Blanchard is recovering nicely, which will be welcome news to her many friends. RETURN FROM EUROPE. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Conkey and the'r daughter Jane returned today from their trip to Europe. Mrs. Conkey and her daughter have been away all summer and W. B. Conkey joined them !o Paris several weeks ago. ENTERTAINS SUPREME OFFICERS, The members of Progressive Conclave No. 1 True Kindred entertained the Supreme Imperial Staff from two to seven o'clock yesterday in I. O. O. F. hall in State street. There were many members present and among the vlsi tors were the Supreme and Grand offi cers ofl llinois. About sixty out o town guests were entertained. There was initiation of several candidate and after the ceremonies a pleasan time was spent socially. At six o'clock the guests were invited Into the ban quet room and served with an elaborate supper. The tables were prettily deco rated with flowers. The session wa a most enjoyable one. A FAREWELL PARTY. Mr. and Mrs.. William Keyser were host and hostess to a number of the! friends last evening at their home in Fayette tsreet. They entertained In honor of their daughter. Miss Elsie who wil leave for Indianapolis this week to resume her studies. The party was given as a surprise to Miss Keyser, The evening was passed enjoyabJy In a social way. Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes have mov ed into their new home at 18 Warren street George Drackert returned home last evening after a short visit in Shelby, Ind. Mrs. F. D. McElroy will entertain her mother, Mrs. Lacey of Indianapolis, at her home in Mason street for a few days. There will be a meeting of the mem bers of the Standard Bearers Friday evening, Oct. 13. at the home of Mrs. Theodore Moor, 91 Russell street. Mrs. Edine Turner and Miss -Eleanor Llnz went to Chicago today to attend the funeral of Charles Bach, which was held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Oakwoods chapel. Miss Virginia Broooks, reader, and Miss Alice Genevieve Smith, harpist who appears tonight at the Christian church, have both arranged to give numbers appropriate, to the date, which is Columbus day. Skating begins at East Chicago Rink Saturday, Oct. 14th. ' 10-5t Returns From Drawing. Frank Ducomb returned yesterday evening from South Dakota, where he registered in the Rosebud Indian reservation drawing which; closes on the 22nd of this month. Mr. Ducomb was very much impressed with the farming possibilities on the reservation, and says that thus far the drawing has been exceedingly light. The total num ber registered when he left was 15,00.0, and the indications are that the regis tration will not exceed 50,000. Other Hammond men who are planning to go to South Dakota next week are Anton Tapper, Ed Rohde, Frank O'Shea and. Peter Schramm.
