In all my dealings with him he was always .a gentleman and I never noticed a breath of liquor on him. He was such a good truant officer that I don't see how I am going to get along without him." Superintendent C. M. McDaniel of the Hammond schools said: "As a truant officer Stanford was most efficient,, and in making this statement I believe I voice the sentiment of every school principal in Hammond. He was reliable and enthusiastic in his work, and I have never known him to-be anything else but a gentleman."
