The serving of refreshments followed the card games and the remainder of the afternoon was spent In conversation. Mrs. Peter Young will entertain the members at their next meeting In two weeks at her home in Alice avenue. AX AFTERNOON PARTI. Mrs. Foster Murray gave a very pretty "party at her home in Kast Sibley street yesterday afternoon at which the members of the Kern Leaf Linen club were present. It was the afternoon for the regular bi-monthly meeting and the twelve members of the club were present. Mrs. Murray received her guests In the parlors, where the afternoon hours were passed very enjoyably. The guests played seven games of whist at small tables In the, parlors. Mrs. Charles Hubbard won the first honors In the contest, Mrs. Ray Fowler the second, and the consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Ransbotton. After the games the guests were invited into the dining room and served with refreshments. A luncheon of two courses was served. Pretty decorations of flowers and ferns were used on the tables. Covers were laid for the twelve guests. Mrs. M. Pelsman will enter tain the members at their next meet ing in two weeks at her home in Kast State street. ' , MEET IX CHCRCII PARLORS. The memoers of the Ladies' Aid society of the Monroe street Methodist church met in the parlors of the church yesterday afternoon for their regular bi-monthly meeting. The usual number of members attended the meeting. The afternoon was spent with sewing and quilting and a great deal of work was accomplished. .During the social hour Mrs. Mayme Van Gilder and Mrs. Olsen served the guests with dainty refresh ments. A DINNBR. Miss Marie Recht was the honor guest at a dinner given by Miss Anna Rouhselange last evening. parlors for social conversation ' the guests were Invited into the dining room and served with a dinner of five courses. The table was prettily appointed In pink and white. The centerpiece was a bowl of pink Kllarney roses arranged with ferns. Following tho serving of the dinner the guests returned to the parlors and spent the evening in an enjoyable social way. Music and conversation were features of the evening. Miss Recht was pre sented with several pretty gifts of hand-painted china. Those present were the Misses Marie - Recht, Iena Recht, Loretta Parks, Libbie Gregg, Mona Reich and Anna Rouhselange. HOLD REUn.AR MEETING. There was meeting of the members of the Ladies' Aid society of the First Presbyterian church yesterday after noon in the church parlors in South Hohman street. It was the regular weekly meeti-ng of the members post poned from AVednesday to Thursday for the convenience of several. Thre was only a small attendance of members at the meeting. They devoted the after noon to sewing and the transaction of the necessary business. The next meet ng will be held Wedensday afternoon October 11, and a large attendance is desired. A social hour has been arranged to follow the business meeting. A COMMITTEE JHEETIXG. The members of the art committee of the Hammond Woman's club post poned the meeting which was announced to take place Monday on account of the absence of members from the city. The meeting will not be held until after the next regular meeting of the Woman's club, and announcement will be made later of the place of meeting. HOLD WEEKLY 31EETING. The weekly meeting of the members of the Ladies' Aid society of the Pine street Presbyterian church was held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Smith in Hoffman street. There were many members in attendance dur ing the afternoon and they accomplish ed a great deal of work. They spent the afternoon sewing and quilting for the bazaar to be given in the near fu ture. During the social hour Mrs. Smith, assisted by her sister, Mrs. Tweedel, served the many guests with refreshments. A dainty luncheon of two courses was served. Another meet ing of the members will take place next Thursday afternoon and the place of meeting will be announced later. ESTERT.ilXS INFORMALLY. Miss Ethel Ebright had as her guests last evening at her home In Ogden street the young ladies of the Inter Se club. It was the evening for their regular weekly club meeting and several of the members attended. Miss Eames and Miss Ruth Anning were the invited guests of . the . hostess. The evening was passed very enjoyably at the card tafies where several games of bridge whist were played. Music was also one of the evening's social diversions. At 10 o'clock a dainty two ! course luncheon was served at the small tables. Miss Ellen Clark was named as the next hostess and she will entertain next Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George A. A. Mason in Rimbach avenue. Miss Clark will entertain at bridge. It was the day for the regular meeting of the Columbia club and their first social gathering after the long summer vacation. Sev eral of the members attended. They were invited to meet at 1 o'clock and after a short time spent in social con versation the guests were asked into the dining room, where a beautifully appointed luncheon was served. The decorations were carried out in au tumn tints of red and gold and fall foliage and flowers were used in the arrangement of the tables. Following the serving of the luncheon the guests returned to the parlors, where the afternoon was spent in a delightful social way Cards were the entertainment for the arternoon and the guests played several games of euchre at small tables. Mrs. Gates won the first honors in the games and the only other honors were won by Mrs. F. S. Bctz. In two weeks on Thursday afternoon Mrs. A. F.
