The next meeting of the members of the Hammond Woman's club will be lild Saturday afternoon, September i30th In the auditorium of the First (rresbyterian church in South Hohmun ntret. The meeting is called for three o'clock and the members are asked to meet promptly. "The program for the fternoon will be in charge of the Home Economics Committee of which Mrs. Julius Dunsing is chairman and Mrs. W. H. Spellman is vice chairman. A very interesting program has been

avenue. The usual number of members attended the meeting. It was the regular monthly business meeting;. After the routine business had been disposed of the members planned for a Hallowe'en party to be given Tuesday evening, October 3lst. The following members were elected to a commitee to make the necessary arrangements for the evening's program, the Misses Lilly Fedder, Florence Kuhn, Emma Claus and Messrs Howard Gescheldler, Kdward Eggebrecht and and Arthur Prolil. The members are planning to give a concert Thanksgiving Eve and a short time was given to the arrangement of the program.. The Misses Minnie Meyer and Gertrude Holtz and Paul Parduhn will entertain at the next two meetings and they extend a cordial invitation to all the members to be present. The next meeting will be held Thursday evening, October 12th in the school hall. A SOCIAL SESSIOX. Mrs. J. O. Thompson, was "at home ' to the members of the Ladies' Aid society of the Pine street Presbyterian church, yesterday afternoon at her residence. 442 Cedar street. It was a social session planned to welcome the many new members in the society. Several vocal and Instrumental selections were rendered after which the time was passed In an Informal way in conversation. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess at four-thirty o'clock. There was an unusually large attendance of members at the meeting. Mrs. Smith wtll be the next hostess and will entertain the members of the society at her home In Hoffman street next Thursday afternoon. The ftiembers are all Invited to be present. a thimble; partyI The young ladles of the A. P. Q.'s were the guests of Miss Ethel Hoffman last evening at her home in Summer street. Miss Hoffman entertained at a thimble party and the guests spent a very enjoyable time with their needle work. Music was a pleasant feature or the evening. An enjoyable afternon was spent by the members of Circle No. 1 yesterday as. the guests of Mrs. Waltz at her home in East State stret. It was the regular bi-monthly meeting and the invitation to attesd was extended all the members.- -There was a large attendance. .' The members met at the card tables and spen the afternoon playing several games pf pedro. Mrs. Otto Knoerzer received the first honors and the second prize was won by Mrs. Mat Klein. The consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Jacob Kusmaul. The hostess served her many guests with dainty refreshments following the card games and the remainder of the afternoon was devoted to conversation.
