Knotts get a fair trial and. then were asked to sign the instrument. It appeared as though the lawyers for the, defense and the defendants themselves did not know from what angle to wage
the fight and are simply grabbing at straws until the prosecution shows its
head. None of the hilarity that was
evident In - the blind pig cases and the
"conspiracy" at Valparaiso was apparent on Saturday and from their appearance, the defendants, without exception realize the gravity of the situation. Judge "Van Fleet will render his decision as to the place of trial on next Saturday.

This was accordingly done, but according to reports Marcovich asked to be returned to membership and on his

Scarcely had he been taken back however, before he is alleged to have written an article reflecting upon the church and on the president of the Congregation, S. Levin, which he sent to the Jewish Courier and which appeared later in that publication. The article It Is said contained may slurs which were resented by the members of the congregation. A committee was appointed to make an investigation, the commltee being composed of L. Se-lfer, Barney Cohen. L. Zimmerman, Morris Bremner and Ben Goldman. Last week
