Friends of Mrs. Fred Humpfer of Rlmbach avenue will be glad to learn that she is convalescent and has returned home from St. Margaret's hospital where she has been for six week following a rather serious operation. The entertainment was given in celebration of Mr. Bunde's birthday aniversary . and ho was presented with a numbejf of pretty and valuable gifts in remembrance of the day. The tables were attractively decorated with cut flowers and greens, carrying out a dainty color scheme. The party was planned as a farewell to Miss Fisher who will leave the last of this month for her home in Seattle. An elaborate dinner was erved after which the guests enjoyed a pleasant social time. One of the most delightful social affairs of the week was a house warm ing given In honor of the Rev. and Mrs. Adams at their home, 119 Wll Hants street last evening. The mem bers of the Baptist church and congre gatlon were Invited and there were many In attendance. They began to arrive at the home at eight o'clock and spent the hours enjoyably in eonversa tion. A short, program had been ar ranged which Included a tenor solo by Mr. E. W. Bump, a reading by Mr. George Bradt and a bass solo by Mr. Walter Webster. . Social games were then a feature until ten-thirty o'clock when dainty refreshments were terved. A lar&e number of Hammond people were present to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Adams In their new home in Ham mond. The Rev. Adams is the new pastor of the First Baptist church and came to Hammond very recently from Lebanon, Ind.

ISPIRIflG NIGHT Hammond Degree Team Does Fine Work at East Chicago Gathering. - (Special to Thb Times.) Indiana Harbor, Ind. Hepl. . Last night was -an inspiring one for local Knights of Pythias circles. There was a big meeting at Pythian hall the object of which was to renew Interest In the order after the summer' lethargy. Before the meeting there was some brilliant manoeuverlng In front of the hall by the Hammond degree team which had been brought over to do the work of the evening, and which had previously marched in a procession through some of the main strets of the town. One candidate.. Daniel Davis, was admitted to the third degree. Besides the visitors from Hammond who numbered fifty, there was quite a representation from East Chicago who ha(J come over with the Hammond contingent in a special car arriving at Grapevine street at about S o'clock" and headed by a band, parading down Grapevine as far as Cuthrie, thence to Elm and back to Pythiai hall. At the meeting the chairs were all filled by past chancellor commanders. Charles E. Fowler acted as chancellor commander, W. B. Van Horns as vice hancellor commander, J. E. Patterson past chancellor commander, Merley Flynn prelate, Harry Gardner, master at arms, and Harry Bland as Inner guard. There were good talks by Attorney D.
