CASTLEMAIl NEARLY MEETS HIS DEATH While speeding northward along the East Gary-Miller gravel road In his big touring car Alderman M. N. The firth ward statesman was cruising at a high rate of speed, it is said, and as he neared the Little Calumet bridge his machine skidded at an angle that threatened to preclptate him Into the stream. However, two willow trees checked the course of the auto and the alderman was thus saved a plunge into the turbulent waters of the Little Calumet. The trees were badly wrecked and some of the East Garyites who hastened to the scene were for giving Alderman Castleman a good' scolding but a Miller man who happened to be near whispered to them who he was so they stood around i-n awe 'and when the alderman called for the pee-pul to help him get started they were glad of the opportunity to help the great Garylte.
