The traveling salesman was face to face with a serious problem. He had a chance to close a big deal, but in order to do it he would have to go outside his instructions. A consultation with his firm was absolutely necessary. He called them up on the Bell Long Distance Telephone, outlined the situation and obtained their consent to close the deal. fc There are many ways in which the Bell Universal Local and Long Distance Telephone Service is of greatest value to the traveling salesman.
