& Interurban railway with the recently Incorporated Calumet United Ralways.
The Air Line people are building the
Gary Connecting railway. They are said to control the Gary and Interur
ban, they do control the Valparaiso and Northern, the line radiaUng out of Laporte connecting Goo3rum and Ches
terton, and If not the dominating factors in the destines of the Gary, Hobart and Southeastern Traction company, they are heavily interested in It. For some time the Air Line has been making overtures for the acquisition of the Gary and Southern railway. Who Ia Back o MoveT.. Frequently the rumor arises that the Calumet United interests are to take over the Gary and Interurban rail.r but this Is denied by both sides. Whether the supposed holding company is to take over the C. V. Ry. and Air Line interests remains to be seen and what is more undertermined yet is which is to control and whether out-, side capital is to absorb both interests.
MIIIer-Eaat (iary Route Surveyed, v As announced in yesterday's Tjiiks
new speculation has ben caused by the survey for a trolley route between East Gary and Hobart. It is now -learned
that a preliminary survey has been
made between East Gary and Miller where the South Shore line now operates through.
Two years ago Arthur Blank of Miller and Frank Schauff of Gary secured traction rights in Miller together with a franchise giving them rights to operate to Miller beach. Frequent overtures have been made to them by the South Shore Interests but they have declined to sell.
