and relatives yesterday and all enjoyed a very good time. The chief fea
ture of the day was eight seeing through Gary in a number of automobiles and later swimming at the lake. A swimming contest was held and It was the most exciting event ever pulled off In the lake. The events were as follows: Mr. Rinald Luedtke, Mr. Chas.
Slater and Mr. Chas. Slater, who are' all heavy set men, were the first to
pull off a hundred yard race. Mr.i
Slater won in the first heat and Mr. Luedtke tied for second. Mr. Luedtke won In the final heat. Mr. Slater was all tired out and was rescued by Muck's life saving crew. The next contest, fifty yards, was between the ladies. Mrs. L. Miller, Mrs. M. Heimke, Mrs. X. Genzel, Mrs. Luedtke, Mrs. P. Garrity and Mrs. F. Behn. Mrs. Genzel, Mrs.
Miller and Mrs. Heimke were winners in the final heat. Mrs. Heimke was first in the final heat. The next swim
ming contest was between the young

Miss T. lalbaum. Miss E. Behn, Miss K. Clossen and Master Elmer Behn. A pleasant birthday party took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Schmletzer In honor of their daughter Miss Edith Schmetzer, who was ten years old. Games of all sorts were played. Music was rendered and all
