Mrs. Chas. Hubard was hostess yesterday afternoon to the ladies of the Sunshine club, at her home in Claude street. Tables were arranged for playing cards and several games o' pedro were enjoyed. The prizes were won by the following ladles, first prize, Mrs. Chas. Luthman, second prize. Mrs. Huber and the consolation prize f-.y Mis. Ryan. At the conclusion of the games Mrs. Hubbard served a dairfty luncheon and a social hour was enjoyed by the ladies. The next meeting will be in two weeks at the home of Mrs. Glasgow in Plummer avenue who was to have entertained the ladies yesterday but' was unable to do so. MRS. WEIS AS HOSTESS. Miss Margaret Rohrman, who has been spending the past two weeks with her parents at their home in State
street, will leave tomorrow for St. Louis, Mo. to resume her duties with one of the large department concerns of that city. MRS. MARTIN ENTERTAINS. Mrs. F. R, Martin very pleasantly entertained the young ladies of the A. D. Q. club last evening at her home In Williams street. All of the member were present and the usual diversion ot the club, that of embroidery, was indulged In during a greater part of the evening. Mrs. Martin served her guests with a dainty luncheon which added to the evening enjoyment. On the next meeting of the club, which is in two weeks they will enjoy a picnic outing at Lake Front Park. LADIES HAVE PICNIC. The members of the North Side Ladies' club are holding a picnic today at Lake Front Park. There was a large delegation of ladies and children went to the park this morning taking
with them several baskets of good things to eat. They will have their
dinner on the lawn of the park and spend the afternoon in games and on the bathing beach. They no doubt will have a fine lime.
VISITOR FROM NEW TORK. Mrs. A. Raphalson of New York City,
wife of Prof. Raphalson the celebrated
pianist, will arrive in Hammond next Monday to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. B.Grcenberg of East State street.
GOES TO BOSTON. Miss Lillian Spafford of Doty street
will leave tomorrow for eastern points.
She will visit In Boston, Mass. her former home, besides spending some tims at Plymouth. Miss Spafford w be gone about twd weeks.
RECEPTION FOR REV. CAMERON. A reception was given last evening
at the Congregational church on Gost lin street by its members in honor of
Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Cameron, who have recently located in Jfammond. The reception was held in the, church au-
dlterlum which was filled to its utmost. A fine program was very pleas
ingly carried out. The welcoming address was delivered by Richard Jenkins Jr. In behalf of the congregation, and M. E. Zuver delivered an address in behalf of the Sunday school. Rev. W. F. Swltzer of the M. E. church gava a very nice talk, also Dr. Baker ot Chicago. Rev. Graham Fuller of the Pine street Presbyterian church also gave a nice talk. Rev. Cameron responded to all of these in a very fitting and pleasing manner. A musical program was given wlhch was a great enjoyment, especially the selection rendered by Miss Ferris, who is in charge of the Presbyterian church chorus. The Ladies' Aid of the Pine street Presbyterian church were entertained at the home of Mrs. MacLeod on Cedar street. There was a large attendance present. The meeting being a business one. A short time was spent socially. Mrs. MacLeod served the ladies with a very dainty two course luncheon. Several piano selections were rendered. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Bothwell on Hoffman street Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. RETURNS FROM FT. WAYNE. Dr. Merz returned today from Fort Wayne, Ind. , where he went several days ago to attend a conference which was held for the purpose of building a home for nurses of the Fort Wayne Lutheran hospital.
