ridge. Ames is well qualified for the office of county clerk and will make a strong bid for the nomination. Edward Glover, the son of the former county recorder, aspires to the nomination for the office his father held. He is nw employed in. the recorder's office at Crown Point and is popular among the young men at the county seat. He will be opposed for the nomination by W. A. Jordan, formerly a Justice of the peace in Hammond. Jordan has always been a good republican and believes he has a claim on the support of his party. Prominent among the candidates for

the office of prosecutor of the thirtyfirst Judicial district are .Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ralph V. Ross of Hammond and W. F. Hodges of Gary

and E. G. Sproat of Hammond.

Rom Has Good Iteeord.

Ross has made a splendid record as

deputy prosecutor under Prosecuting

Attorney Charles E. Greenwald and he will get a great deal of support on his

merit alone and aside from political

considerations. . Since the first of the present year he secured 24 penitentiary convictions, aided of course, by Green

wald. Hammond lawyers consider Ross one of the best criminal lawyers in the state. .

W. F. Hodges of Gary Is of tt'e firm

of Hodges and Ridgeley and is a very

capable attorney. He is alio a deputy under Greenwald. He has always been consistently republican and has done a great deal for the party in Gary.

E. G. Sproat Is one of "Hammond's

keen young professional men. He ran

for city Judge in the Schaaf campaign and made a splendid showing.

For surveyor Ray Sceley will be a

candidate to succeed himself.

Ticket Te Be Strong. John A. Brennan of Gary is a candi

date for the office of auditor. Bren

nan has a host of frineds over the country and is one of the strong republicans in Gary. He is a man of considerable means and has had the

financial responsibility that would make him a capable auditor.

So the lists are filling up and the best

thing about it all is the fact that those

who aspire to places on the republican ticket are all men of honesty and in

tegrity, free from gang rule or bi

partisan alliances. The republicans are

certain to have a strong ticket.
