The cliy council met at the city hall last evening and to keep up their ordinance passing pace passed and approved of Ave new ordinances, two of them of considerable Importance. Ordinance No. 12, an ordinance controlling the licenses of buses, drays, vehicles and motor cars used for public hire and pay, was passed and ordinance No. 13 fixing the amounts of such licenses was also put through by the board. The license fee Is quite general in scope and fixes the amount from four dollars per year for (tingle horses to as high as fifty for motor cars used as carrying vehicles in the same sense as buses, et. Ordinance No. 14 regulating and licensing of peddlers and hucksters was
passed and provides for a lieense of from 12 per day up for peddlers, canvassers and solicitors of business. No license Is to be required from truck gardeners in town peddling produce raised by themselves. Ordinance No. 16 regulating the obstruction of sidewalks was passed and approved, and provides that no one hall in any way obstruct the sidewalks or streets with vehicles, crates, boxes, scales or in any manner whatever, and fixes a penalty for its violation. It Is said that Dr. John Blackstone has about decided to pull up stakes in Crown Point and move to South Bend. Ind., where ho has splendid prospects ln his profession in that city. Mr. Blackstone has not definitely decided, but does not deny the rumor. Mrs. Lena Reeder and son, of Hammond, are visiting with Crown Point relatives for ceveral days. Prospects are now that Crown Point streets will be cleaned of ' practically everything but air and that the city council in conjunction with the new sidewalk obstruction ordinance , will see that the state laws relative to the obstructions on streets will also be enforced.
