That the camping trip of the boys of the Methodist church Sunday school last week was but a forerunner fof
more comprehensive plans for the benefit of the boys of Hammond became
known today when the Rev. W. F.
Swltzer, pastor of the First Methodist
church, who accompanied the boys, dis
cussed plans in an informal way this morning. The plans under consideration provide for a closer organization of the
fcoys of the Sunday school, to provide
them with headquarters in the way of a clubroom and an affiliation with a nation-wide movement in the Methodist church, known as "Knights of Methodism." In Hammond these plans have progressed to such an extent that the Hammond Methodist church may be considered the pioneer as far as results are concerned. As a first t4nglble result, the south half of the basement under the church on Russell street la
to be remodeled with a view of fitting
it up as headquarters and a clubroom
where the boys may enjoy games which train both the mind and the body. The local organization will be known as the Hammond Camp of j.he Knights of
Methodism. The boys of the Hammond Sunday

school who were In camp last week had a splendid time. They were In camp In company with the Rev. C. A. Brown of Chesterton, who had a group of twenty boys of the Chesterton M. E. church under his charge. Their sleeping tents and two cooking tents were furnished by A. E. Wilcox and Howard Young of Hammond, having fitted the local boys out with a sleeping tent and a kitchen tent, respectively. Have Abnormal Appetite.
The day's diversions consisted of swims, hikes, boating, ball games, camp
fires and the me&Is, which were the1 biggest events of the day because of the abnormal appetites that the youngsters developed. They had plenty to eat and the boys took turn about in the kitchen and at times would have to go to neighboring farms to buy fresh supplies of green goods. In the Hammond party were the Rev. W. F. Swltzer, Donald and Hubert Gavlt, Charles Kaufman, Edgar Smith, Harold Young, Walter Jordan, Fane Rogers, Harry Younger. The camps were pitched at the foot of Mt. Tom, the highest point between Michigan City and Chicago. The government has erected a flagstaff here, and the place Is ideally adapted for a camp.

No, the young man had no young lady in mind when the above excalmation escaped him. He wat referring to a watch I had old him a few months ago that had run for 90 days, showing, during that time, a variation from true time of less than 18 seconds. What's that? Mighty few watches do that? Right you are, my boy. But If a man will buy a good watch to start with, spend sufficient time to get it properly adjusted and then take good care of it afterwards, I can place in his hands a timepiece that will come very close to that record a watch that . he may rest assured will never cause him to miss a train, a meal nor an engagement.
