CLARK STATION. The Clarke Station sporting club have
at last discovered one of the best things of their history. For the last few years they have been tormented by some aw
ful enemies and did not know how to
prevent the tormenting of their enemies.
At last President C R. Spitnagle with the aid of Vice President Mr. Schumacher decided to build a large screen house outside and this would enable them to nave an out door club room. After getting the members together under the supervision of F. C. Hollfleld the screen house was built. Now they report that the mosquitoes dont bother them at all. The dedication of the club house took place last night when Mr. F. Behn was elected treasurer and secretary of the club because he gave them the
privilege to build the house on his property. President C. R. Spitznagle opened the evening with a very encouraging speech. This was followed by the singing and playing of the great German soloist and violinist Emil Krueger. Mr. R. Marshall was the toastmaster. After this Mr. L. Barsley presented some of his swell dancing and juggling acts. Vice President N. Schumacher closed the dedication with one of his fine peeches. The club has his club room at Fred Behns corner and the members will allow any one to enter It because they are against the mosquitoes. Mrs. E. LOWELL. Constable Westberg went into West Creek township to levy on some ladders belonging to a painter by the name of McCarty, again whom a Judgment had been rendered. He made the levy, secured the laders and went to a neighbor's nearby for dinner. When he returned he found that McCarty had stolen back and cut the ladders in two with an axe and then hiked. McCarty called up Attorney Belshaw in Lowell by phone and told him that a heavy
wind had knocked the ladders down and broken them. He also called up Westberg the next morning and told him the same thing. He would have fared badly could the officer have gotten his clutches on him Immediately after he committed the act. Tony Nomlson lost a self-binding binder In the twinkling of an eye Wednesday afternoon, which was struck by thel:30 fast south-bound passenger train. Momlson crossed the railroad on a load of hay. Henry Clements followed him on another load, and behind his wagon was tied the binder. Nomlson seeing the train coming: motioned for Clements to stop and let the train pass. Falling to comprehend Nomlon's meaning, he drove across the track, and observing for the first time the approaching train, he urged his team on. The rope by which the binder was fastened broke Just as the machine was across the track, which was a lucky thing for Clements. The train struck the machine and smashed It to pieces. The engineer stopped the train and the train crew came back to learn ; what damage had been done, after which they boarded the train and resumed their journey.
