XOTICE FOR BIDS ON TOWN HALL Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Griffith, Indiana, will receive sealed bids as proposals for the construction of a new town hall for said town according to the drawings, plans and specifications now on file with the town clerk, until the hour of holding the meeting. A meeting of the Town Board will be held at the Harkenrider hall in said town on the 19th day of July. 1911, at one o'clock p. m., at which time all bids will be opened and given consideration. S. 1908 Sec 8698; apts 1909, p. 170, and deposit with him certified check payable to his order in the sum of 3150, or the equivalent, as a guaranty that he will accept said bid and carry out the construction of said work. Chesterton, Ind., July 12. While sailing on the lake north of M311er, Monday. Otto Weber, a mill worker, nearly lost his life. He dived from the sail boat and commenced swimming about, bul became exhausted and had disappeared twice, when Asa Bullock, a sailing companion, plunged into the water and after a hard struggle succeeded in towing Weber to shallow water. In the meantime the sail boat, in which eat 12 year old Etta Weber, drifted more than a mile into the lake. .The young men secured a row boat and 'followed the sailing craft two miles before they were able to overtake and board it. ' REP ORTHE AVY STEEL ORDERS Contracts for Railway Equip - f ment Welcomed; - One of the most satisfactory features of the steel trade last week, and which promises to furnish an" impetus to the trade in general, was' the number and size of the ordere'for equipment placed by the railroads. The record of orders for the week includes 92 locomotives, 3,000 cars and 6,000 tons of structural material for bridges, shops' and piers. Besides there were orders for 20,000 tons of rails and orders for 200,0.00 tons of rails are pending, including 100,000 tons for export.
