A DEUCHTFIX MEETING. A delightful meeting of the members of the Jewish Ladies' Aid Society took place yesterday afternoon at Weis Hall in State street. Mrs. M. Pelzman and Mrs. C. Miller were hostesses for the afternoon and they entertained a number of guests in company with the members. There was a very large attendance of Hammond and out' of town ladies. A business meeting was called when the reports of the recent public whist were read. Other important business was transacted as the meeting will be the last until the first Wednesday in Septem
ber. The social session which follow ed was very enjoyable. The time was
spent pleasantly at the card tables
where several games of whist were
played. The honors in the games were
won by Mrs. Leo Wolf and Mrs. Otto
Klemperer. Mrs. A. Marks was award
ed the consolation prize. The host
esses also awarded two prlies among
the guests and they were won by Mrs,
R. Munn of Pittsburg and Mrs. Leopold
of Chicago. At .the conclusion of the
games the hostesses served a dainty
luncheon which concluded the pleas
ant entertainment. .

terday afternoon for their regular bl
monthly meeting. There was a large attendance of Hammond and out of
town ladies. Among the guests were
several from East Chicago and Whit ing. The guests met socially and en
Joyed several games of pedro. The games wereplayed at several small tables in the hall. Mrs. Ida Hoffman received the first honors In the game

parochial school will be held next Tuesday afternoon, at which time six
teen graduates of the eighth grades
will receive diplomas. The day will mark the close of the school year, which has been a very successful one. Nearly 400 pupils were enrolled, and under the intelligent and patient guld. anee of the Sisters of Providence, the
year stands out prominently for results as compared to previous ones. The small tables were placed about tho hall where the guests gathered and were served with ice cream and cake. A small sum was asked for the refreshments and a nice amount was realized which will be used for the benefit of the church. The guests enjoyed music and social conversation during the hours of the social. A chair was raffled and Mrs. Connelly who held number nineteen was awarded the chair. AS AFTERNOON MEETING. The ladies of the guild of St. Paul's Episcopal church spen a very enjoyable afternoon yesterday as the guests of Mrs. C. G. KIngwill at her home In Williams street. It was the regular weekly meeting of the members and
the usual business and social program was carried out. After a short business meeting the members enjoyed conversation and music and were served with a daintily arranged course luncheon. The announcement was made of the next meeting to take place In two weeks, Wednesday, . June I8th and Mrs. Erick Lund will entertain at her home In Warren street. It wll be the monthly soclat meeting and an invitation to attend will be extended

Bump was "at home" to the members of the Ladies Aid Society of the First Batist church yesterday afternoon at her residence In South Hohman street. It was the regular bimonthly meeting to which all tho members were Invited and there was a large attendance. After a short business meeting the members enjoyed a social session. Music and social conversation were feature of the hour after which the hostess served her guests

At eight o-clock last evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs . Charles
Spelchert. 221 Michigan avenue their
son, Otto Spelchert was united In marriage to Miss Marie Sasges. The ceremony was performed by Judge E. P. Ames, a brother mason of the groom
and a friend of the family. A number of friends and relatives were Invited to witness the ceremony and remain for the reception which followed. Among the guests were several from Chicago and Dubuque. Ia. At eight o'clock, the hours chosen for the ceremony. Miss Clara Zimmerman who presided at the piano played the Mendelssohn wedding march tof the entrance of the bridal
couple. They came from the reception
hall in to the library where the cere
mony was performed. They were un
attended. The bride was attired in
beautiful costume of gray messaline satin, which had elaborate head trimmings. She carred a bouquet of bride's roses. Her going away gown. was tailored suit of blue serge and she wore a hat to match. 'Following the reading of the marriage service, an hour was given to the congratulation of the young couple. Their many gifts in silver, cut glass and hand painted
china were also displayed. At ten o'clock the guests were Invited Into the dining room and served with an elaborate dinner of siv courses. The bride's cake was used as the center piece on the table and the other decorations were carried out in the brides chosen

was forelady In one of the departments of the Reid-Murdock plant where she was popular among her associates. She has a large circle of friends in Hammond. Mr. Spelchert is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spelchert an-1 has made his home In Hammond for many years. He holds a responsible position with the Standard Steel Car Co., by whom he Is employed as foreman. In the tool room. He has a large circle of friends In Hammond and vicinity who extend him their best wishes. Among the guests at the wedding .were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. disposed of the usual amount of business. The plans were made for another "cake sale" to be held Saturday, June 24th' to which ' the public Is cordially- Invited. The proceeds of the sale will -be used .for the benefit of the church. Other business of Interest to the members was transacted. The social hour was in charge of Mrs. J. T. Hutton. Mrs. W. A. Jordon. The young people of division No. 2 of Miss Elizabeth Webber's class in music were entertained at the home of Miss Avis Hunt in Fayette street yesterday afternoon. It was a special meeting called for the rehearsal of their program to be given at a recital Friday evening, June 23rd. The members of division No. 1 will have their recital the following Tuesday. Business of interest to the members was transacted befor the close of the meeting. Bridge has returned to her home in Warren street from Benton Harbor, Mich., where she spent the winter. - Attorney and Mrs. Joseph IL Conroy will occupy Mr. and Mrs. B. L P. Bell's residence at 646 South Hohman street while they remain at their summer home at Lake Winnebago, Wis. Miss Loie Hughes of Crown Toint will come to Hammond this evening for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes at their home in Warren street.
Miss Hughes will leave Sunday for Winona Lake, Ind., where she will spend the summer in the study of music. v. Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Newell are expected to return to their home In South Hohman street today from Lima, where .hey were called by the illness of a rel
ative. Mrs. Frank Hitchcock, who accompanied them, will remain for a more extended visit. Mrs. S. Harris and son, Harry Harris, 68 Rimbach avenue, will lave Friday for Lookout Mountain, Tenn., where they will visit Mrs. Harris' cousin. Dr. Dietrich. y . Miss Maude Fries of Attica,-Ind. concluded her visit with her aunt, Mrs. S. Harris, at her home, 58 Rimbach .venue, and left for an extended western trip. She will visit in Salt Lake City, Utah, later going to Los Angeles, Cal., where she will spend the remainder of the summer. The young ladies of the C. D. club will go to the Lake Front this evening for a picnic. They will take their suppers and remain in the evening to enjoy social games and contests. The picnic will take the place of the regular weekly club meeting. Miss Iva Simcoke will entertain tha , young ladies of the A. . Q.'s. at her home In East Sibley street this evening. home of Mrs. Erick Lund. The members of the Loyal Sons clasi of the First Christian church will hold a business meeting Friday evening ot this week at the church. A large attendance of members is desired.
