.Over two hundred people, th mora- left the parlors of the club house where

bers. of the Lake County Club, their

families and friends gathered at the club grounds, at the formal opening yesterday and spent the day enjoying

the many features with which the old

Tolleston Oun Club is replete, wander

ing through the quaint old club house and grounds on the tennis courts and golf course.

It was a general get acquainted day.

It being the first time that many of the out of town members and guests had a chance to meet each other. Gary was

well represented, and Hammond menbers were there In goodly numbers. The attendance from other cities would have been larger, but the motor races at Indianapolis was the attraction that

drew many of the members away.

No more beautiful spot could have

been selected by the promoters of the

Country, Club than the old Toliesion

Gun Club grounds. The club house

itself a historical rambling house was a treat, to say nothing of the beautiful

o-rniirtn ehadAd iv the oA oak treeji.

The members began to gather atthe

arrounds early In the morning and it

was nearly eleven o'clock before they

dancing was the feature of the evening amusement. Many people brought their lunches and ate them on the lawns and

porches. Over 100 people were served at dinner in the evening where the menu and service wai spoken of in the highest terms. . The tennis courts situated south of Twenty-fifth avenue, in the rear of the club house overlooked by a spacious varanda was the attraction for many of the members. The clay tennis court are in excellent condition and when completely hardened cannot be excelled in the northern part of the state. Although the golf course is not completed several golf enthulasts spent the a f -ternon playing the popular game. What with baseball, and other out door games, ttie members bad amusement to their hearts content and the Country Club promises to be a popular place in the future. A big tune Is being planned by the directors for Fourth of July when the grounds, roadways, golf course and

other Improvements being planned will

be completed and ready for' the pleas ure of the members.

Charming Httl Irocka are worn at the afternoon gatherings at country dubs, the dainty frock being protected by a long motor coat of linen, pongee or mohair on the drive out to the clubhouse. This costume la built of white marquisette with a trimming of white cotton trlng-. Bands, hem and ornaments ou the skirt are of l ydrangea pink satin. The parasol is pink, and the hat is made of lace laid over shirred pink chiffon with pink ostrich plumes coering the top.
