If all the dire predictions that were
exchanged between William Zimmer
man and Ab Ottenhelmer last night as to the game between East Chicago and Whiting tomorrow prove true, the story of the gingham dog and the calico cat which ate each other up, will find a prototype. Each promises total demolition of the other. Mr. Zimmerman explained to Abe that out of regard to the feelings of East Chicago, Its team being the last in the league, his .boys went a little easy with the East Chicago aggreation. From now on however, he let it be known, that friendship ceases. Abe returned that he appreciated Mr. Zimmerman's kindly courtesy but he did not take It so seriously as he enerally takes Mr. Zimmerman. That, in short. East Chicago would Show the world tomorrow, that last Sunday's game was no fluke. East
Chicago, he declared, would hand Whit
ing the ame ackage as it handed them
ast week. He moreover expressed
himself as gratified at Mr. Zimmerman's propositiop. that friendship cease, ' as he expected to lick the Whiting crowd again, and so long as there were friendly relations, it seemed too much, like taking candy away, from a baby t
win over Whiting.
In fact, he broke it to Mr. Zimmer
man as gently as possiDie, mat nis team and the local fans had become so
obessed by the victory of last week that
he doubted if he could hold them In
check to prevent a second slaughter.
