POSTAL SAVINGS

JUNE FIRST (Special to Thb Times.) Indiana Harbor, May 12. The new

office in which the bank is conducted, and no depositor is allowed to place

more than $500 on deposit.

A great deal of interest is already

manifest in the new departure.

ing for the operation of the bank whose

business will be handled by the money order division.

on the west. One Hundred and Fortyfirst on the south and Beech street on the east. Carl Anderson has the contract for the cottages, which will be modern, one ' story frame-buildings of four rooms each. The contract has also been let for the construction of sidewalks on this property and the company will plant trees anil otherwise improve the block, making it as attractive as possible. The cottages will be placed on the market as soon as completed and will be sold on the easy payment plan. The Indiana Harbor Land company is negotiating for more land in the same neighborhood, and it is expected that this deal will be closed soon.

ATTORNEY SELLS

HIS HOME. (Special to Thb Times.) East Chicago. May 12. Abe Otten-

heimer has sold his house &t 4326 Magoun avenue and moved last week into a flat in the Friedman building, corner of Forsyth and Chicago avenues. He does not intend to make this his per

manent abode, however, it being Mr.

Ottenhelmer's intention to build on the

lot where his former home stood, the

purchaser of the latter, J. P. Lewis,

having already started to move the building to a lot owned by him across

the street.

As soon as the lot is cleared work

will be begun on Mr. Ottenheimer's new domicile, the Smith-Miller Con

struction company having the work in charge.

The dwelling is to be a bungalow,

built of brick and in English style rT

architecture. The contract calls for its

completion within ninety days after the work is begun. Mr. Ottenheiiner has arranged for every modern con

venience in his new abode, with the

most sanitary plumbing and the mo3t up-to-date heating appliances.

NEW BUSINESS BLOCK.

(Special to Thb Timer.) Indiana Harbor, May 12. Callahan &

Schock, contractor, last week began the erection of a two-story brick business block in Michigan avenue. The build

ing will occupy a lot between the Hembroff building and the Oscar George building.

The owner is Louis Zimmerman, who

conducts a departments store in Michigan avenue next door to the Indiana Harbor State bank, but as Mr. Zimmer

man is already In a building of his own it is not his intention to move, he preferring to rent his new building. The lower floor of the new structure will be a store room and the upper floor will be arranged for living apartments. The cost of the building is to be $7,500

approximately, and the job is expected

to be completed within three months. The structure is to be modern throughout and will be a worthy addition to the fast growing business district of Indiana Harbor.
