Incredible as it may seem, that's what Comiskey s ball players did yesterday afternoon at the south side park, beating the lowly-

Senators into small bits by a score of 20 to . They made twenty base hits for a total of thirty-four bases. They had five doubles, three triples and one home run mixed tip in the bunch. There was no n,eans of stopping them, and Jimmy McAlerr. the Washington leader, might nearly as well have dismissed all his

New York, May 12. Knockout Brown bested Harlem Tommy Murphy for the second time in a hurricane tenround battle In the ring of the Whirlwind A. C. at Brooklyn last night. It

was a ciuggmg match from start to finish. Murphy might have outboxed the young fighting demon but for the very good reason that Brown started rushing with the tap of the first bell and never quit rushing tintil the last one. At that Murphy gave the embryo champion the best fight he has had since he first came into prominence, outside of his two encounters with Champion Ad Wolgast. Murphy centered his attack on Brown's nose and

Kept plugging away at It In every round. The sight of that red, swollen member was about the only thing that gave the Harlemite's adherents ground for the cheering they did. The fact remains that Brown landed two blows to Tommy's one and deserved the verdict on aggressiveness if on nothing else. Knockout had Tommy backed up against the ropes, covered up, half of the time. They were in that position at the final bell with Brown flailing away like & madman.

There were no knockdowns. Brown was pushed through the ropes once and several times the strands saved Murphy from a like fate.

Are Said to Exceed All

Marks Since 1900. Baseball figures on the games played yesterday 'in the two major leagues show some surprising and startling results. The, number of runs scored and base hits made was greater probably

man on any aay since tne American league became the rival of the National in 1900. - In the two leagues yesterday 126 runs

were scored and 177 base hits were made Seventy-five runs were counted in the national and fifty-one in the American. The White Sox made the largest number with twenty, while the Phillies scored nineteen against Pittsburg. Cincinnati scored thirteen against Boston's ten, while Brooklyn scored ten against St. Louis, and the cubs tallied nine against New York. There were ninetv.tu.-n o..

made in the four National league games and eighty-five in the four games of the American league, these figures being unofficial. The Sox also led in batting, getting twenty blngles. Taking the eight big league games played, there was an average of better than twenty-two hits per game, or eleven hits for each bisr leasru om

The average number of hits per game for all big league teams throughout the season of 1910 was under 7. So with an average of eleven hits In all the games of yesterday. it means the grand batting average for that day was 46 per cent better than the grand batting average of the entire season r iom
